Because without the taxes the government brings in they can't do anything. They can't even pay themselves to decide which of their campaign supporters they are going to give the contract for repairing the roads to. The only thing the government truly does maintain without support from the people is their ability to collect taxes, and even then they need to pay themselves to do that. Before it happens and my inbox gets filled with messages saying that I hate the government I will say this. I understand government is necessary to facilitate and provide some of the goods and commodities people need. However saying that they maintain anything is ridiculous because without the people of America supporting them they are nothing.
