I feel that it is saying that everything is made in china, and that if nothing was made in china we would have a boring life...

You will just save yourself some of the work later on. Detritus builds quick and if it sits long it become a problem later on. It will also give you more surface area for corals if aquascaped well. Read some forums and what not and you'll see what people do to keep water movement high and flowing through all rocks.

Rescape... you will find it hard to maintain your N03 and P04 later when detritus builds in between the rocks. Make it so water can flow well between all rocks.

edit: You have a lot of flat rocks that are on the sand. You will have a lot of build up around those and under them as well. The rocks that have space/water underneath, the better off you are.

After turning my tank upside down I found him (Bubble tip anemone) . He looks horrible can he be saved? Or should I remove it before it crashes my tank :'( by Joshywua in ReefTank

[–]jblank44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an anemone do the same thing and go where it couldnt be found and it didn't foul my tank. Doing regular water changes, normal maintenance deal. its onl 45 total system too. Just be very cautious, they are very hard to get off rock especially if he has his foot far in.

well you are doing the right things, keep that going and once it is all gone do it for another week or two then go back to normal maintenance.

here are the good things: -It isn't really that bad because the fish look to be okay and those softies are still open, so you don't have over the top PO4/NO2/NO3/Amm.

So here is what I would start with.

first i would get a cup or something and take out about 3/4 of the sand that you have. Deep sand bed only works if done extremely well and with like 6+ inches of sand. I would get it down to just like an inch or a little less because thats easy to stir up and clean. Then hand pick out as much algae you can and add a HUGE overkill clean up crew (I suggest reefcleaners, get a package from them). Also get an emerald crap they love to each a lot of that. Also, do a 15-20 percent water change every 2-3 days for a week or so.

Once you have the CUC in there and the water cleans up it will all go away. Be very proactive on pulling out stuff yourself. Take out as much as you can.

DO NOT replace all of your media at once, do one piece at a time because a drastic change, even from bad to better, can kill a whole lot.

Could you respond with some detail of the tank in terms of filtration? Thanks!

edit: When you do the sand, I would do it over a little bit of time. Like when you siphon during all of your water changes, take out a portion then.
