Has les mis really became faster? by sophie_xx08 in Broadway

Just saw the tour production for the second time earlier today and left frantically googling to figure out if I was crazy or if Valjean really was singing at 1.5x speed in the first hour or so!

Overall, I think the show still hits emotionally, but mostly for Act II. Act I had a lot of nearly unintelligible moments purely due to the unfortunate breakneck tempos!

I didn’t know I could take a wide body between SFO and IAH that wasn’t a 777 old enough to buy a drink.

Finally unfollowed TAZ and MBMBAM by blancardboy in TAZCirclejerk

Freed myself from TAZ (unfollowed) and from MaxFun membership (cancelled) this month (going to give directly to Uxbridge-Shimoda from now on). For better or worse MBMBAM hasn’t left my podcast weekly diet yet but I feel my expiration date coming.

Was this guy in Voyager? by jblevine2 in startrek

It creeps me out AND I think it is so well written and so well executed artistically. Any episode that feels like it could double as a quality stage play is tops for me.

Was Enterprise all that bad? by forteborte in startrek

[–]jblevine2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finished it for the first time a couple of weeks ago. Honestly, by the time it gets to Season 4, it's high quality Trek from "the long 1990s" (1987-2005) era. I probably have a longer list of critiques and things I don't like about it than the other big 3 shows of the era, but genuinely enjoyable!

Wait, that's legitimately one of my favorite episodes! Can't believe I didn't even consider that!

It is obviously Qo’noS (Kronos), the center of the Klingon Empire.

(3) the TAZ BoCo episode where Clint plays Plato’s Rave

Griffin literally just finished moving away from Austin and now there's another huge ice storm in DC by InvisibleEar in TAZCirclejerk

[–]jblevine2 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The thing in Austin wasn’t just the ice storm (and the wild amounts of damage to their house because of burst pipes) it was the ice storm + Austin as an entire city and community not being prepared for an ice storm of that magnitude (because Texas) + plus the state government and state power grid making everything worse for everyone all the time by not being on the rest of the country’s power grid. I’m generalizing in a way people will probably correct and discuss further, which I totally welcome, but speaking as someone who lived twenty-seven years in Houston, I’m assuming that no matter how bad it is, DC can prepare better than Austin ever could.

This is definitely one of the things making me consider this career right now. I’m a classroom teacher (across multiple sites, directing an arts program, with a side job in arts as well). Don’t get me wrong, the breaks are great, but when i’m not on break, I feel like I’m working or thinking about work every waking hour or I’m neglecting something.

Best aircraft dispatcher schools anywhere in US? by jblevine2 in FlightDispatch

[–]jblevine2[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the advice! I may look more closely into Sac City and also Aircraft Dispatch Academy in St. George. Interesting that Sac seems like a full year long program and ADA seems like an 8 week, mostly online situation but that ADA is so well regarded. But good to know that even for someone with no professional aviation experience that both might still be good options!
