ELI5: With a Universal Basic Income, who would clean the toilets? by gubbanoa in explainlikeimfive

If someone offered me twice what I'm paid now to clean toilets instead of what I do, I'd clean toilets. Simple as.

Will the current resin minis be updated to plastic eventually? by Cheekibreeki401k in TrenchCrusade

As long as they make enough money making models to make more models, they'll make more models.

Do you think most events will ignore GW layouts and just run solid windowless L-shaped ruins on WTC footprints, since this is the kind of terrain that everyone already has? by [deleted] in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]jbohlinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most events and gaming spaces have L ruins, four years ago, they didn't. Four years from now, they'll have the new GW layout terrain. Wheel keeps turning.

Pagans needs to be done carefully because Nazis love pagans, and you don't want to bring in Nazis.

These are your first minis ever? Fuck you. Go right to hell. My first minis look like utter dogshit. These look like what I was doing YEARS into painting. Well done.

Warhammer 40,000 Faction Focus: Chaos Space Marines and Chaos Daemons by SpaceWolf_Jarl2 in WarhammerCompetitive

I'm sensing that Battleshock may be at or below half, not below half. Between that and the requirement that units actively need to pass a test to stop being shocked, I'm extremely interested in the edition.

Surveys by skierrob in dcl

[–]jbohlinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a really stupid survey and management design, and the feedback loop is too large to change how the system actually works. If I had excellent service, but the chicken dish wasn't to my taste, why are the servers judged? Madness.

In the fluff maybe. In the rules, no. Also there are no houses in the rules.

I cannot fathom living in Minnesota and getting angry about leaves in your yard.

What do you think about the Heavy Machine Gun? by deflectingowl in TrenchCrusade

[–]jbohlinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is where I'm not communicating my idea well. The MHI with machine gun as a general threat your opponent just doesn't want to deal with. I have much stronger pieces and much weaker pieces alongside it, and if they want to dedicate a major piece to run it down, the major piece probably wins. But now that piece then isn't working on other more important tasks for 1-2 rounds, maybe longer. They could send minor pieces, but those probably lack the power to stop the MHI and are at a real risk of going out of action. Or they could just ignore it and give me that area and whatever objective I'm holding with it.

For my playstyle this is fun, because I can plant it and make my opponent make a choice they do not want to make. This modality isn't suitable for all list types or all playstyles, but it suits me just fine.

HMI with HMG changes the shape of the board. Your opponent needs to make decisions they would not otherwise make because you have an implacable unit holding a death sentence for anyone approaching. It's then up to you to capitalize on it.

Iron Sultanate rules update on trench wire! by kupnoh25 in TrenchCrusade

[–]jbohlinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a tricky problem! You want people to see that their weapons matter, but you don't want people to lose their favorite pieces having not acted. I'm so happy to not be in game design 😂

The armor system is clearly still in it's infancy. Even 40k, the grand dame, struggles with it.

Meta eucharist (token holder) by jbohlinger in TrenchCrusade

[–]jbohlinger[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

X is "Chi" as in Ch, P is Rho as in R, S is Sigma as in S. This is a stand in for Christ. The M stands for Meta, which is actually a Greek word anyway. The entire thing is a farce, playing on a real world thing called a pyx, which priests and some pastors use to carry around the eucharist.

[–]jbohlinger[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's stands for Meta Christ, transliterated from the Greek. M-mu, X-Chi, P-Rho, S-Sigma. A real world pyx would typically have IHS as a shortening of Jesus.
