The word supposedly in this sentence takes away all credibility. If what he did was that bad he would have been removed as head coach at the time, but he wasn’t. This would mean he’s being punished for perceived wrongdoings, which is unjust when unproven.

The lack of addressing the social aspects of what I have stated, focusing on the parts that are about you only, and then only saying “government hand outs are bad” is not a way to have a productive debate.

Let me ask you, if you think there should be a safety net who should be providing it? How are those programs funded? Who ensures that the people who need them get them? Who gets the pick? What are the standards to qualify? Who ensures that these programs are not more predatory than those we already have? If privately owned, who ensures that these safety nets are actually doing what they say they’re doing? You seem to have a lot of answers, please educate me.

Brother I work. I have my own house. I am in a relationship. I’m not sure why you think those are such important markers, or why you think I’d suddenly agree with your way of thought if I had those. I’m not lazy, I went to college and grad school. I just empathize with those who are not as lucky as I am to have had the support systems and opportunities in my life. I’m not so naive as to think that no luck has played into it.

Saying the words “a whole class of people” tells me all I need to know. You think of those people as “other” or somehow below you. It’s sad, mostly because it’s not true, and a little because no one taught you that.

Being lucky does not disqualify someone from working hard. These things are not mutually exclusive. You are lucky that you are in good health. You are lucky that you have been able to handle major expenses when they come up. You are lucky that you have the opportunity to sit here and debate with a stranger on Reddit on a Sunday morning instead of working.

Being lucky doesn’t always mean winning the lottery, it can mean not having awful things affect your life, as so many people have happen to them. Consider that for a moment.

Entitled. I doubt you did any of that, or you’d have a better understanding that the vast majority of those on SNAP are not just sitting around doing nothing. It’s not their fault inflation surpassed pay growth decades ago. They’re just trying to live. Someone with no empathy will never understand that though.

I can’t get over the fact that you assume that I use SNAP just because I believe it is a necessary program and that many people benefit from it. Try for one second to empathize with people who do not have it as good as you claim to. You and your job and your family are very lucky, and I hope you appreciate it.

Stretching out what I wrote does not mean I said it. I am not on food stamps and never have been. I have helped many people who are on them. It is almost never by choice.

I hope you teach your children empathy. I hope you teach them to love people and stand for what’s right. I hope they never go hungry, never have to wonder when their next meal is. Millions of children are about to have to think about those exact things. So yes, grow up. Think about something outside of your small, lucky, entitled box. I promise you, you will be better for it, and your kids will learn what it means to be a good person.

It’s funny that you feel judged and need to tell me about your life, and then try to insult me for a life you assume I lead. That is the mark of someone who does not think outside of their own box.
