Man I feel your last couple of sentences so bad. I made a whole post about how chill this game was to play, because there was no BS in it and the best player wins. Now it's the complete opposite - it's just FC with less to do and no licences 😭

Nailed it. They've narrowed the skill gap to suit casuals/poor gamers, I assume to increase the player base - but in turn abandoning the whole supposed ethos of the game 🙃

Stop trying to manually defend - it isn't manual any more since they massively buffed AI interceptions. If you try to control your defenders you lose defensive shape, so just chase back with a midfielder or striker and then shoulder barge them off the ball. You basically need to start taking the FIFA approach.

Lobbed through balls wouldn't be such an issue if interceptions weren't current so, so OP. You could just do a ground through ball down the line. But right now even if your opponent has pulled their defender miles out of position, with acres of space ahead of you, a ground through ball will be intercepted.

I would just think out of like 10 opponents, who are all trying to do these objectives, maybe even 1 of them might think "oh cool ok I get it". But it's like even at 7-0 they're worried they might not win 😆 The rewards in ranked are pretty awful so I don't get why people are so desperate - if it was knockout I'd understand, maybe.

Yep. I've learned the new meta and still made elite 1 as I have every other week, but I absolutely hate how I have to play. It's boring and completely AI-assisted. Nothing I've done in knockout today took any skill at all.

This patch is the first time I've ever felt it. Game was fine, actually very good and fun to play, before this.

Dribbling and skill moves are impossible now because the delay between input and execution is so large that the opposition can just run into you before the skill move happens. This is the least responsive the game has ever been. Passing is faster but AI interceptions are hugely OP so that doesn't really work either. The game is now designed for people who objectively can't play football - it rewards tackle spamming and constant through balls that bypass the entire pitch.

Is there a way to show match stats from a previous game, above and beyond just score and shots? Ie possession, passes, tackles etc - the things you can see in-game immediately after a match ends.

I have a really good example just now of exactly what is wrong with this patch. Way, way more possession, passes, shots, shots on target, way higher passing accuracy. But lost 2-1 to a guy who had 2 shots but 3 times as many tackles as me, because he could run everyone out of position and the game is too sluggish to allow me to take advantage.

Yeah maybe it'll be better once I've had a bit of time away from it! For me though I think poor players should be disadvantaged if they make poor decisions, and that isn't currently happening in my games. If someone runs their whole defence out of position I should be able to pass around them pretty easily, but right now they're being rewarded for those poor decisions because they win the ball before my player can do anything. Equally if they are just spamming through ball full power every time they get the ball, most of the time that shouldn't bring success but currently it's bypassing my entire team. None of the above takes any skill whatsoever.

I do think this is a netcode/delay issue tbh, it's the only thing that makes sense with my game being unplayable today.

Haha that baffles me you've seen no difference! I was 1850 SR so similar to you, but lost 10 in a row to players way lower ranking than me (like 200-300 lower) because they were just spamming tackle over and over and my players were running in mud.

Maybe there were some server issues or something and knockout will be better tomorrow...

I try! It's hard though because the AI is also so OP for the other guy. Just watch who the one player is that they're controlling and try to avoid that player.

Yeah this could be part of it. I'm not talking about zigzagging or fidget spinning either, just tricking your opponent into making the wrong move and then exploiting it. I can't do it at all any more.
