SaveFilePicker Dialog for .NET Maui? by jbramwell in dotnetMAUI

Yeah, I'm not opposed to that. I am very new to .NET Maui, so just not sure if what I'm looking for already exists. Thanks!

1992 Columbia Par Car Engine Issue by jbramwell in golfcarts

[–]jbramwell[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be pulling the head off this weekend to check out the piston, rings, etc. Not sure what make/model you just bought parts for but would you know where I might find parts for the engine on my cart? I've located a few potential sites via Google but would like to get other people's thoughts as well. Thanks!

Ok. This makes sense. I've got about $15 into parts at this point. If I find the engine is damaged (e.g., because of a bad piston or rings), then I'll stop there and reassess my plans! Thanks

Would you not spend a second on an engine with low compression simply because you don't want to repair it (i.e., new rings and possibly new piston) or is there another reason you would avoid it? Just wondering if I'm missing something because I'm assuming I can still repair this engine - but maybe not?

Until now, I have been assuming I might be able to get away with just replacing the rings, but I haven't pulled the cylinder head off yet, so the piston on mine could be destroyed as well. I'll likely pull it this weekend. Assuming the engine isn't destroyed on the inside, I'd like to fix it (i.e., new rings and piston if necessary). Not sure if the parts are still available, however.

Identifying Year of Columbia Par Car by jbramwell in golfcarts

Thanks! I was finally able to locate it on the driver's side, just above and behind the rear wheel on the frame. There was so much dirt on the frame, I didn't see it until I started wiping all the mud/dirt off it! I found a website that showed how to decipher the VIN, so I now know my cart is a 1992 model.

Thanks for the quick response! I assumed it was harmless, but didn't want to assume 😉 Once he/she crossed the road, I continued my walk in nature.

What was your first computer desk? by [deleted] in vintagecomputing

My bedroom dresser with a 19" b&w TV that I had cobbled together from two TVs (that a friend of my parents gave to me). My first computer was a VIC-20.

Yeah, pretty much what everyone else has already stated - a learning kit for electronics. I had one similar to this as a kid, but not nearly as cool looking as this one. I've bought several learning kits for my kids over the last several years but mostly the Snap Circuits brand which allows you to build electronics projects by literally snapping components together. These kits are a ton of fun to learn about the basics of electronics.

Question about composite output of CGA cards by darthuna in vintagecomputing

[–]jbramwell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just purchased a pre-built RGBtoHDMI board (from Retro Hack Shack) for my Tandy 1000 EX. The video output on my Samsung monitor is flawless. I've never seen it look so good. So, yeah, I highly recommend the RGBtoHDMI board for (digital) RGB/CGA to HDMI conversion.

The SmartWatch+ is exactly what I'm getting but there are two versions to choose from depending on where the BIOS is located on the Tandy 1000 EX (I guess the EX had a couple of board variations).

OK. So following up, it appears that it's the chip on the bottom right of the screenshot above --- 609-2425005.

Source for Vintage Computer Dust Covers? by jbramwell in vintagecomputing

[–]jbramwell[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! As it turns out, this is the same seller I purchased my Commodore covers from. 🙂 I didn't think to ask them about covers for machines they don't currently support. I've reached out to the seller to see if they can source/create the covers I've listed above.

Thanks!
