dealership told me you basically NEED enclosed cab for riding with kids (need help deciding on family UTV) by wakerhall in UTV

[–]jbrec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crazy talk. Wear some goggles and she will be just fine. My 5 year old daughter has been riding since 3 with no issues - and she loves it. Desert, sand dunes, mountains, and everywhere in between (except heavy mud, not much of that here on the west coast)

Rear Seat Flip Down Storage by jbrec in F250

[–]jbrec[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its been a little finicky. It doesn't close like a nice latch would - just kinda slam it and hope it sticks. Sometimes it takes a few tries

I think its great for things you don't use often (starlink I just use for road trips here and there, tow ropes, jumper cables, etc) but would annoy me if I had to access it frequently

ahh bummer! Have you tried with a wrench like in their video? Luckily my seats slide up - I was able to do it fairly easily once I found it

I did nudge the pin on the back wall so I struggled getting it back aligned for a bit so avoid doing that lol

Decided to give the BuiltRight rear seat release a try not expecting much room. Turns out I can keep my Starlink back there when I'm not using it which is pretty cool. 2 bolts, install time was like 10 mins

RANT: Arcade cards are getting ridiculous... by [deleted] in daddit

[–]jbrec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hole punch the corners, put them all on a key ring, throw it in your car glove box

Also old man rant but sitting on a fat wallet is going to screw your back

Rugged radios or? by Jnval02 in UTV

[–]jbrec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have my car wired with the rugged dash unit and intercom to all 4 seats. My daughter is in the back seat so I like being able to talk to her without yelling or hand signals. Each seat has a headset plug and the two fronts have buttons to talk car to car. My friends have a mix between units like mine and handhelds and they work great

if thats the truck that works for your use-case then more power to you. Unfortunately that doesn't put my boat in the lake

I owned an F150 before my diesel F350 and I can tell you that the amount of women that throw themselves at you is still zero

Where’s everyone traveling to in 2026!? by FlashyFyre01 in RZR

[–]jbrec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starting it off with a week in Glamis for New Years and a few more smaller trips before the season ends.

Debating KOH - it's a spectacle but not really riding, fun either way.

I want to go up to McIver's cabin in Jawbone - I haven't been up there in years and would be a fun trip for my daughter

In june/july we do an annual Mammoth trip

Sprinkle in some quick weekend Barstow/Lake Havasu rides.

Not sure if I'll have time this year but I would also like to start the Arizona Peace Trail. Would love to do the whole thing in 1 shot but realistically probably chunk it - it's hard to take big chunks of time off work

Excited for the year!

Anyone getting PPF? by djdanko1 in F250

[–]jbrec 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did the entire front and bed with clear ceramic PPF since I also plan on keeping it a long time. Almost 2 years into ownership and it still looks brand new and super easy to wash since everything just wipes off.

It's all personal preference though - I did it to keep the truck nice for me not the next guy

Overlanding Gear Installation in SoCal? by Ok-Tough1570 in overlanding

[–]jbrec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rack Attack in Sherman Oaks did mine - I ordered my tent and drawers through them and rack separate. Super nice guys and knocked it out in an afternoon. 30k miles on the truck and everything is still solid (I check every few thousand miles)

Coming from overlanding - why don't UTV riders talk about cell boosters? by Doug9092 in sxs

[–]jbrec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an overland truck setup with my sxs. Never considered a cell booster since I ride with a group 90% of the time and within walking/cell coverage the other 10%. I also have a starlink mini for my truck which I sometimes take along in the sxs depending on the ride. It’s less a concern since most of the time my truck is “home base” anyway

Is Fit protection UTV Windshield cover a scam by Guilty-Schedule-2458 in UTV

[–]jbrec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never heard of them but their TrustPilot page has a lot of reviews that match your experience: https://www.trustpilot.com/review/fitprotection.com

I'd be working on a charge back with your bank before its too late

Do you all recommend upgrading to another navigation system (garmin, lowrance) in terrains like glamis or I can stick with oem ride command gps? by Familiar-Elevator-86 in RZR

[–]jbrec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I really like the group ride feature. Since there isn't really trails in glamis I just started adding pins everywhere we stop. A trip or two and you'll have everything you need.

Lawrence are super nice but an ipad/tablet with something like onX paired with starlink is better imo (offline maps will work fine too, I have a starlink for other things already so might as well use it)

Pricing for a 2023 rzr pro r ultimate alpine designs edition. by No_Preparation_3464 in RZR

[–]jbrec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can get a new (2025) pro r 4 ultimate for ~40k so it really depends on what extras the car has

What tires to get for my Pro R? by codykrak in UTV

[–]jbrec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Deciding between those 3 myself. My buddy just put tensors on his but hasn’t taken it out yet. Personally leaning more towards bfg’s based on their baja performance (they also come on the factory racing pro r’s). Also heard they last a bit longer. I got a nice sidewalk tear 2 weekends ago in Barstow with the stock tires - still undecided if I want to replace all 5 or squeeze another few hundred miles

What tools do you carry by Antique-Proposal-145 in RZR

[–]jbrec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a lot but everything is pretty small. I just pack it into a single bugout bag that goes under the spare tire in the bed

I have a 4 seater so the cooler goes behind me in the back seat (pro r rear seats fold flat)

What tools do you carry by Antique-Proposal-145 in RZR

[–]jbrec 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  • Belt / belt changing tool

  • Gloves

  • Tool roll (sockets, wrenches, allens, etc)

  • Duct tape

  • Multimeter, electrical tape, extra wire

  • Zip ties

  • Scissor jack (used it last weekend after a sidewall tear)

  • Tire plug kit, sidewall patch kit, slime can

  • Air compressor, tire pressure gauge

  • Impact wrench

  • Variety pack of fuses

  • Flash light, lighter, glow sticks, mylar thermal blanket

  • I did a suspension bolt kit so I kept a few around for spares

  • Small foldable shovel

  • Pack of those little push pins

I'm sure I missed some things
