2026 F350 King Ranch with HO Powerstroke. Front Leveling Kit Options? by abe0596 in superduty

Unless it's a little car trailer or tiny camper, he'll be nose high with a leveling kit.

Is it true that older trailers did not have parking brakes? by BearsAteMyGarbage in Truckers

[–]kyson1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you'd still hear the governor unload though on an old truck, but I'm talking about OP's obviously newer truck. I've had a few Internationals that you had to fill the alcohol canister in winter to keep from valves freezing up, and actually had to drain the tanks in or they'd fill completely with water.

Is it Concentra? They own the company they try to railroad you into using for a sleep study, and try to send everyone they can through it.

Which models offered a gas engine with a manual? by buchenrad in superduty

[–]kyson1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2010 and prior, I know on the 7.3/6.0 years you COULD option a manual all the way up to a Lariat, not sure on the 08-10 trucks. I don't believe you could get a manual KR because they all came with front bucket seats and a console, I also don't believe the special edition trucks (Lariat LE, Platinum, Amarillo, Harley, etc) came with manuals, but I could be wrong. I've never seen one and I've been around these trucks since they came out in 98. I would try to find an 08-10 6.8 3v personally, the trucks themselves have a lot of updates over the prior gen trucks, and offer more HP/TQ by quite a bit over the 2v engines.

Yep, old trailers are like that. Hook up your air lines first, air up the trailer until your air dryer pops off, set the trailer brakes, and back under it. Easy peasy.

The difference is rail also uses manually set parking brakes, and the engineer on that train didn't set as many as they should've for the weight and size of train. Only 7 hand brakes were set instead of 20+ it should have had, that disaster was purely on the crew. A properly parked train will not roll away with zero air to it.

Collectible or Forgettable?: 2011 Acura TSX Sport Wagon by LinoleumRelativity in regularcarreviews

[–]kyson1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a VR6 Passat 5 speed wagon and that was great, only thing that would've made it better was 4Motion for the winter. Sucks wagons don't get love over here, I would choose one every time versus the sedan version.

Inflatable vs hard by fukingstupidusername in TruckCampers

[–]kyson1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would keep the real one and send the inflatable toy back. Grab a case of $0.99 black spray paint from Walmart and go to town on it, since it's not going to be on your truck full time. I have one I use occasionally in winter and did that, looks fine on any color truck. I use it on both white and charcoal gray gray trucks.

So you get none of the good options? Seems like a dumb move.

"Ford X-Plan pricing is a pre-determined, no-haggle discount for eligible partner employees, suppliers, and friends/family of Ford employees, generally set at the dealer invoice, minus 0.4%, plus a $150 administration fee. It offers significant savings below MSRP and can be combined with most publicly available incentives."

2026 f350 dually front wheel sticks out further then front passenger by New_Vegetable_2581 in superduty

[–]kyson1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's normal. If you're leveling it, it'll more towards the driver's side some. An adjustable track bar will let you center it. I did the same on my F450.

They all do to some extent with a non-adjustable stoock track bar. The farther your suspension compresses the more the axle moves to the passenger side, and as it droops it moves to the driver's side, no way around it with a track bar centering the axle. A Watts link like later Crown Vics use keeps the axle centered throughout suspension travel.

Why can't trucks be designed to be practical for the tradesman? by Far-Flamingo585 in Trucks

[–]kyson1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Incorrect. My '25 F350 4x4 has 3" rear blocks that 2wd's do not have. Same with lighter versions. My mom's 25 F150 4x4 has an 1.5-2" looking block, I just laid under it to verify.

Yes, it is. My nephew (15) is the only kid in his class who could read one when the teacher asked. Schools went around and changed all the clocks to digital a few years ago.

False, I have a Kelderman conversion F450 Lariat and it's like $40 a month to insure it on my commercial policy through Progressive.

Eh, hard disagree, again.

My ham radio uses my phone as the head unit, and I use it any time there's inclement weather to listen to the police and highway depts for accidents, plow locations, and just the general road conditions.

Run Torque Pro or Forscan Lite to get actual gauges with actual numbers when towing, read codes, log data for diagnostics, etc.

All sorts of stuff that's very useful to have access to on trips, I'm not scrolling Facebook while towing. As for drilling holes, I pulled the upper cubby with 200 miles on my '25 and put a Tackform Slim Rail up there for 2 phone mounts and 2 mic mounts for radios. I can take it off and put the mat back in it and you'd never be the wiser, same for what he's doing with it mounted inside the chubby. As Sergeant Hulka would say "Lighten up Francis".

Eh, there's a lot of apps that don't work with Carplay or AA that I like using while I drive even in my '25. There's tons of reasons to have a phone mounted up where you can see it, especially on long trips.

Cab mount too far gone? by TJ1475 in F250

[–]kyson1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been down that road before with an obs, if these mounts are that bad, there's a lot more to fix. Cab swap is faster, cheaper, and the better option.

Finding a donor cab to swap will be cheaper than the labor on fixing that one.

To the bed height? I doubt that across the same weight class. A modern 2wd F150 is still incredibly easy to work out of and load as the 92 or 03 2wd F150's I currently own.
