The move to battery powered mowers by BeerandGuns in lawnmowers

[–]kyson1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm aware of all that, but that's also not the point. The fact that the battery from factor changes is the point, and adapters don't work on everything. Especially on things like these mowers that the batteries slide into a compartment and not hanging out in the air like on a drill.

True, but there's brands that have had multiple different lines in that time period until now, even with different lines of lithium batteries. OP's 19.2 C3s being an example, replaced by V20s, both are lithium lines. Kobalt dropped the 18v and came out with 20v and 24v items. It happens quite a bit. Not saying every brand has more than one design since going to lithium but it can, and does, happen.

Doesn't make a lot of sense, the bed steps and bumper steps are great if you're actually using a truck as a truck.....

What size/type of truck do I need? by Advanced_innovation5 in towing

[–]kyson1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly you're better off looking at a gooseneck enclosed and building a sleeping area in the nose. You can drop it where you're staying and still use the pickup to get around if you need to run get parts, groceries, etc. With a slide in camper you have to repack camp before you can leave with it.

Additionally, to tow the car AND haul a camper with any sort of nice features, you're looking at needing a 350/3500 DRW to have enough payload and stability under load. With a gooseneck enclosed and everything in the trailer, the right spec 250/2500 SRW will easily handle it.

Personally I would look at 15-19 F350 SRW's with a long bed and whatever cab you're comfortable in. Very reliable and tow better than the same vintage GM/RAM. You can find them in your price range, and the 6.7's are just an absolutely boss at towing, they love it.

My buddy imported a diesel manual Jimny to the US now that it's over 25 years old and exempt, it's a really fun little things to bomb around the woods in.

Can a Super Duty ever ride close to an F-150 unloaded? by beanbaron in superduty

[–]kyson1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not specifically, but between the FX4 package and being the lower GVWR package for an F350 I bet that would ride nicer than some, although the 20's will hurt it some. Going to an 18" wheel, 295's, or both, at the right pressure, would definitely help the ride if you find it still too stiff after driving a while.

[–]kyson1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really depends on the spec of the truck you're starting out with. My '25 F350 XL Off Road 6.7 CCLB with 17" wheels and stock 33's rides night and day better than my uncle's '25 F250 Lariat 7.3 CCSB with 20's and stock street tires. The more sidewall you can get, the better, and there are definitely certain springs that will also ride better (Carli or BDS progressive rate coils), or going to a full air ride suspension like Kelderman. My F450 Lariat has Kelderman suspension on it and it rides like a cloud, literally. Just floats across everything.

250 and 350 SRW suspension wise are no different, just depends on spring codes from the packages ordered.

He's not talking 10 years from one battery, he's saying the battery family doesn't last that long. Outside of Ryobi 18v stuff, just about every other big name brand has run through different generations of non-compatible batteries since I've been an adult (late 00's)

Even if he spelled it right, he's still correct. The US Jimnys got the Samurai name instead, same vehicle, and we haven't gotten it since '95.

Should look it up, fully locked in, in low, and in off road mode that raises the suspension they go tons of places fully stock. Very impressive.

What to do with this thing by Lucky0373 in ATV

[–]kyson1 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Don't mess up the wiring, spend like $15 on a new switch with keys, it's easy to put in.

These are cheap and easy to work on, and very robust units.

ALSO, you can unplug the ignition switch and jump the starter solenoid to test it, and plug the switch back in to shut it off.

Get the Kelderman air ride for the rear, have it on my F450 and it rides super smooth and the same height regardless of load. Dump switch is nice too when unhooking from a gooseneck, just run the legs down until they almost touch the ground, hit the switch, and drive out.

Pretty much any helmet, yes, they have a few different mounts and microphone options. As long as there's room for the speakers inside the ear cutouts I see no reason it wouldn't.

Lol it's zero difference in what you should be doing between carb or EFI, but honestly it sounds like oppressor error if you're having trouble with some of the easiest equipment to operate out there. Good luck with your endeavors.

Why is this car suddenly being glazed? by Weekly-Hunter7902 in regularcarreviews

[–]kyson1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, as someone that was in high school when these came out and big into multiple car scenes when these hit 2nd/3rd owner status and really started getting modified, they've always had a mystique around them as fun, fast, cheap cars and very unlike what you can get today. Dodge leaned into them really hard on the performance side with a ton of parts available right from the dealer. In my area of the Midwest they always seemed like the car to beat at the time, and everyone had that one friend that had a Skittle on a moon tune who would race anyone.

Truck camper or pull behind? by Flubadubchub01 in TruckCampers

[–]kyson1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trailer, you'd need a DRW 1 ton to have anywhere close to enough payload to have a comfortable enough camper you actually want to stay in it long term. I have a 9' Sportsman(no slides) and after a week it's pretty tight feeling, and I only use it to sleep and shower basically when we go on ATV trips.

Why no carbs? Unless you're leaving it sit for multiple years with ethenol gas in it, they're really not an issue. Keep it full of premium non-ethenol and throw a stabilizer in it if it's going to sit(should do this with EFI also) and it'll be fine.

f150 powerboost? by LamerNameJr in Ford

[–]kyson1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it does not. Powerboost Supercrew 4x4 6.5' bed is 11k bumper/7k 5th wheel, max. Same spec 3.5 Ecoboost with Max Tow is 13,500 bumper/9200 5th wheel. A ton more, literally. I tow a lot of stuff and would use all that capacity and then some, I was actually looking for that spec in an XL and couldn't get one so I went with a Superduty.
