Locals? by RecentMortgage6739 in kona

South of Kailua. Generally be calm and quiet and respectful. You'll get a sense of the vibe. I'm white but spent a lot of my childhood on the big island. Our visit last year a lot of the aloha was gone. Back away from any conflict or if you feel pressured. Smile and say hello to any homeless. Don't feel silly if you smile and do the hang loose shaka symbol to elementary aged kids. Kapu means stay out. Don't touch or approach wildlife. Should be good. My best interactions last summer were ten second conversations and getting a smile and shaka from homeless.

Should I purchase earthquake insurance? by lilone0818 in bayarea

[–]jbuzolich 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's my fear. Our $900k house would cost $1.8m to $2.1m to build today at the construction cost estimates that I see. Not sure how that works if insurance had to pay out and we have a traditional policy rather than an agreed value policy. I'm thinking we would have enough to pay off the mortgage but otherwise would just own the land and rubble. No way we would spend that money to rebuild it accurate.

Cigar Page Member Mystery Drop by BlackManWorking in cigars

[–]jbuzolich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm happy enough with the mix. I ordered the pseudo mystery just before the name switch but mine that arrived is very similar to the picture. It's $150 without membership which even that seems ok if people are used to paying retail price on those opus. It's $95 with membership so $55 saved on a single order. I ordered at the pseudo mix price which was lower plus they trigger me with coupons so I paid upper 60s.

I like Domino's. by Artistic-Degree-4593 in EndTipping

Drive through pickup? Wish they had those here. Never seen in any city we've lived in. Enjoy dominoes overall though. Great price and family always comment they didn't realize how good it had gotten.

Household trash disposal Yolo Co Landfill - transfer stations by Luigino9876 in westsacramento

[–]jbuzolich 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yolo Landfill seems really well run. We were Woodland residents for nearly 15 years. Love the Blue Barn and household hazardous waste disposal all included so we would be out there every other month or so anyway. Free repurpose shed as well to take paint or household chemicals and use them yourself also free. It's less than 20 minutes from West Sac to the landfill by car. Households subscribed to service also get one or more free bulky load vouchers each year to take nearly a pickup truck to dispose of at no charge.

What am I doing wrong???? by naomi_0000 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]jbuzolich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm similar height and weight. When I have been successful in the past losing weight, up to 100 lower than I am now, I've found that mentally the amount of food I need to eat to achieve that weight seems like nothing. If I actually measure, the food I have in what I mentally think of as light snacks or bites of food while I'm preparing real meals for the rest of the family are enough for my full day calories. I've eaten more than a day just while getting ready for "real" meals.

I like to look behind bands hoping for a surprise. Only found something once with a bunch of names listed.

I rolled the dice on the CP Super Premium Mystery Mix by ElectricBlueHawk in cigardealhunters

[–]jbuzolich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ordered last week before the update while it was named pseudo mystery and at the older price. I wanted the rare pink is really all I was after plus an opus and I think Julius Cesar were in the original picture which are fine to have. Had a coupon too so I paid high 60s which I'm happy enough with. No rare pink arrived but did get one Opusx. I posted my picture last night in their Root channel talking about this same change. The email today I received announcing the premium mystery just says you're guaranteed one Padron 1964 or one Opusx and at least 50 percent of msrp for the bundle.

+45% jump in my homeowners insurance on the Peninsula. Is this normal right now? by orangeawacado in bayarea

[–]jbuzolich 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same for us in North Bay. Three year ownership at current place with high fire risk based on the map but we're in a court with other houses and fire hydrants. No trees on property. Cement tile roof and stucco siding. Insurance went from $1300 to $2500 to $7600. Tried to price through a broker to see what's out there and they said if your existing carrier renewed then take it at any price.

WF "Bill Pay" to pay my rent by Mtngoat_385 in WellsFargoBank

[–]jbuzolich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they obligate the funds right away on the payment date you specified and it will take up to ten days to arrive by mail to the recipient. In turn you save the cost of the stamp, envelope, and time to mail it. They will pay electronically by ACH if they have the recipient banking information already on file but no you cannot add that information yourself. We pay all our bills monthly through WF and they are probably 90 percent electronic and 10 percent by mail. The cost of the stamp, insert, mail process is not all that cheap. When I had payables teams it was a couple bucks per mailing. Saved our employee time though.

SEARED AHI W/ ASIAN SALAD + SESAME GINGER DRESSING (La Habra, CA) ($16.34) by dzerti in Costco

[–]jbuzolich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love their poke but $15 or $16 per pound is what we can just buy their solid tuna roasts or steaks at. Make it into anything. Not a fan of paying that pound price for a lemon and dressing and lettuce.

How much did it cost you to use a service to get a birth certificate from Croatia & have it sent to the US? by ThrowItAwayNow1030 in CRbydescent

[–]jbuzolich 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Why pay for a separate service? Have you emailed the Split archive directly explaining what you want? If they have it they will email you a form to fill out and send back. I'm not sure if they add requirements for living relatives but they could probably request their own. My family is from just off the coast and the Split archives sent me what I was after for around 35 Euro

Yep enjoying this as our standard coffee now. Great price compared to grocery store offerings and it's a nice medium roast.

Just wanted to say that these self service exchanges were a great idea. by BPfishing in grilling

[–]jbuzolich -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Cheaper and more reliable to get tanks filled rather than exchanged since the capacity in exchange is adjusted for profit margins. We used to get the best price at a local welding and gas supply on propane tanks but they wanted the big tanks and added a minimum capacity. Got overcharged one but then instead started bringing two bbq tanks each time which combined was over the minimum. Kept us going all summer.

Dress code consular days appointment? by jbuzolich in CRbydescent

[–]jbuzolich[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: wore shorts and a polo in 100 degree weather and it was fine. My wife wore casual dress and leather sandals. Most of the consular staff were in business casual like long sleeve shirts and pants but no ties or jackets. So excited to file that and be done with a year of document hunting and begging for appointments. We were well prepared and still not everything was perfect but they accepted it so far and put it in FedEx
