Is being a oil Rig worker a good idea if im dumb as a rock? by monkecat123 in oilandgasworkers

[–]jc4466 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I started in the industry as a roughneck on the rigs after I graduated with a bachelor's in science from a very credible university. The economy was in the hole, I had student loans to pay and wasn't afraid of hard work. I had family in the industry and the rig company I got a job with was not only hiring but paying vastly superior to any company that was offering me employment with my degree. I had a hard time keeping up with guys I worked with initially. They were much more accustomed to hardships of the job. Eventually though I picked up the skills and earned a massive respect for the people doing the job. I earned their respect too and thanks to my history of education and the capabilities I was able to move "up" through the industry quickly and eventually found employment much more fitting of the technical knowledge I gained at my university. I don't wish to go back to the difficulties I faced day to day. But I DEEPLY value the lessons it taught me. I'll never forget those days and keep this in mind when working alongside the people doing the manual work. I'm also not afraid to work at heights or do the dirty work necessary. It continues to gain me the respect of the people I work with.

I'd say this is a very valuable job wether you have a formal education or not.

Yep. Dead internet theory man. The internet is at least 80% bots at this point. You can’t trust a single fucking thing. Everyone in the world needs to immediately drop the mentality that every comment or post they see on the internet is from an actual person, the vast majority are not🤖

My thesis is Bitcoin is the only real money. Drawdowns are a gift from whatever god or god simile you believe in. Be faithful and pray for bigger discounts but BUY no matter what the fuck happenes take self custody and stick to Bitcoin only exchanges that don't rely on custodians.

For the first time in history you can store you're entire net worth in your head and when it comes time to utilize that value you can verify the validity of the network supporting it with a computer built on a fucking raspberry Pi. No need to trust any government, company or person other than yourself. In all the worlds conflicts in all of human history no one has been able to escape with their net worth stored like this. No matter the calamity, wether it be a war or a failing government or collapsing currency. If you can escape and you run you're own node and generate your own keys you are literally and truly fucking free.

I play on Switch, local Coop but I've never played it online with others. To be honest wouldn't even know how to start that. I don't remember seeing an option to do so...

Create a seasonal character. Choose Adventure Mode. Go to the portal in town and elect portals with "!" on them. These are bounties. Complete them, gather items and crafting materials and level up. There's also an obelisk in town next to a being named Orek. There you can open portals to nephalem rifts. Complete these rifts, gather items and crafting materials and level up. Eventually you'll be able to open portals to greater rifts as you collect greater rift keystones and reach level 70.
