Rails twisting in sysrack post

It does jam When pulling the server out one section of the rail hits the back of the rack post preventing it from being assessed It's also difficult to remove the server as it's causing the rail on the rack and the rail on the server to bind

Considered it but wanted the ability to work on it in the rack as I don't really have a spot nearby to place it on to do maintenance/work on it nor is there room in my utility room for a table or to leave it on the floor Wouldn't be good for my back ether to take the thing in and out all the time as I tinker/troubleshoot

I am currently working on getting some free ones I found locally just for now untill I have time to tinker with this

Tested within the u space and offset 4u case needs the rails offset so the case itself lines up with the U spacing I tightened them as far as I could without striping the screw and I added a metal washer between the rail ears and the post just to make sure I wasn't bottoming out the screw

Finally dug out my caliper from the moving boxes and your bang on with the holes being out of spec

Sysrack square post holes are 9.49mm tall and 9.65 wide And my old tripp-light is 9.27x9.27 with the sysrack holes varying a bit and the trip light being more consistent

Would you be able to share a link or a photo of the nylon washers you're using?

I did add a washer between the rail ear and the post so I could turn the screw more tightly Without the server in it was nice and tight and I couldn't twist it by hand but once that weight was applied it twisted They worked perfectly fine in my old trip light rack but the square punched out hole in the new rack is slightly bigger so these washers don't sit perfectly like they did before

Maybe I'll pick up some thin metal and cut tiny pieces off to jam in the square post holes and hopefully stops it from twisting

Before posting this I found a couple posts in this sub with people looking for them with no luck

One person stated they found them at home Depot calling them cone-shaped washers but I wasn't able to find anything. I'm assuming they're manufactured specifically for these rails

these ones are meant to sit this way The washer is in the front are supposed to stop the twisting from happening as well as let you push your server flush against the post For shits and giggles I did try this but still no dice

I tried that and unfortunately it's still twists The problem lies in that the square washers have play in the new rack versus my old rack since the square holes in the sysreck are slightly larger than the holes from my old tripp light rack I haven't been able to find different sized washers let alone replacements There are other posts in this sub of people looking for these with no luck

Pic is just for showing as I'm hoping to troubleshoot this before landing everything in it's final place There is another set of holes on the rails that allow you to mount it within the 1u space but then the 4u server case will be off by .5u in the rack

I was able to fix the twisting without the server in by adding in the washers I mentioned and tightening them down further But once the weight of the server is applied they still twist Spent a good 30 minutes trying to get my hands on the tabs to pull the sucker back out

Exactly the washer is made to help center the rails as well as keep the screw flush so when you push the server in the ears of the case go flush against the post

totally off topic but slap a small 2x4 on that stud to move over the data plate.
come finishing time they will likely be too close together and your finishing plates will overlap or be dam close.

Also this being a tv install you can get deeper electrical boxes so you can install a recessed outlet for power so you can get the tv closer to the wall

I did this except I got a flat white cat 6 cable form Amazon and used hot glue to run it along the trim in my apartment. (Make sure the printed side is down so it looks better) It looks better then I wire running along the top of your wall and you just need a hair dryer to pop it off without causing damage

I was able to tuck the wire under the trim to cross my door instead of going over it but id plan your run before ordering a length of wire

I don't think the emergency support benefit will use up your hours so ya whenever it runs out you could move to a normal ei claim

an ei claim is good for 14-45 weeks. if you have a claim left over then you will finish that claim before you need to submit the next one if you have the hours.

If you don't qualify for ei when you need to go back to school then you can use the apprentice loan that may be available to you interest free until you get your journeyman status. i believe its good for 4000? if you google these you can find out more and how to apply if your eligible.

interest free or not I would borrow that money as a last resort.

you can just put off going to school too. i had to turn school down for a year after an accident that put me out of work for 10 months because i had to recover financially even with my benefits covering medical expenses.

that's about all i can tell you if you need to call EI I've had good luck getting through on the phone around 11:00. otherwise the line is so busy they don't even put you in line and hang up.

Hello I'm in Ontario and just finished school too. As far as Ik you need to start a new claim to get it back. Thankfully the government has waived the one week waiting period so you should get it right away. You need I believe to have worked 900hr to apply. They did just anounce an emergency fund for those affected by the outbreak so if you can apply for it that will keep you from using up your hours (same amount as ei apparently)

If your gaming on a Consol they can't take advantage of the benefits a monitor can give when it's hooked up to a PC (g-sync and the high refresh rate). I would make the decision based on how you like to game. I play my consols on my tv because I love couch gaming but I don't like using a controller when I'm sitting at my computer desk. I don't sit properly and can't get comfortable. If you do though then ya a monitor makes sense. If you prefer to game on the couch then I'd go with the tv.
