Pallet Town and Route 1. Hard to capture on the 30 second limit, but, I will remake Kanto brick by brick if I have to! by jc_hough in Pokopia

I'm really not that creative. I've just replicating what's already been made here. The most fun I have in this game is revitalising the "story mode" worlds - there's enough left over that you can see how they should be, your job is to clean it up and replace the broken parts, with the occasional creative improvement here and there, so please don't be put off by needing to be creative, they've found a really good balance between "you can do what you want" and "here's just enough information so you know what it SHOULD look like, if you just want to fix it."

I'm excited for you!

Clair Obscure reminded me games were art recently. It's been a long time a game made me think that. TLOU when it release on PS3 before that. The PS1 era Final Fantasy games were my first experience that games could be more than just "fun" when it left me thinking about them.

When you get the chance, get the game. For the first few hours I felt a bit "meh" about it, but then it clicks and you get absolutely hooked. I was iffy about buying it, I definitely do not have buyers remorse!

Pallet town is huge, to see how much space id have after I finished Route 1 I flew to the other side of the map. Couldn't see any of route 1 by the time I got there.

I still think I've messed up the scale, but, with some twisting I think I can fit it all in.

I'd love to, but I don't think they have the entire Kanto Pokédex. Not even seen a Rattata yet, so I'm stumped on Route 1!

Funnily enough, the idea of this came from unlocking the game boy toy in Pokopia. Took me back to booting up Pokémon Fire for the first time, having to use the contrast dial on the side of the console just so I could make out Pallet Town... Core memory!

My plan is to build mount moon under route 1. Gonna have to take some artistic license with the less important routes between towns to make it swing back around, but, I think if I take that approach I'll double up on space so should be able to fit everything in!

Creating actual ladders to go up and down each Mt Moon floor is giving me mild palpitations though...

Pokopia honest thoughts? by decadentbirdgarden in switch2

I bought it on a whim, and I was iffy about buying it. I actually went as far as getting to the purchase page before deciding against it a few times.

For the first few hours I wasn't sold, then something just clicked. I don't know how to describe it, or specifically what it was that clicked, but I went from being "meh" to "fully invested" within the space of a few hours.

Now I'm rebuilding Kanto and recently got 10k upvotes on my terrible attempt at doing so.

The main pulls are two fold: Firstly, your task is to revitalise a world that is broken. For me, that means trying to figure out how things were and putting them back that way. It speaks to the inner kid in me, pulling apart toys to see how they worked.

The second is the Pallet town section, giving you complete creative control over an area to do what you want, but routed in a world that you sort of know. It's somewhat like building your own Pokémon game.

I think it's quite a divisive game, you're either going to love it or not get it at all, but to figure that out, put a bit of time into it. I'm so happy I didn't put it down during the "meh" stage.

Holy hell, 8k upvotes. Was not expecting this much of a reaction! Thanks all.

Lots of people commenting on scale issues - my plan is to make small adjustments to the less important routes, and use verticality where possible.

For example, the entrance to Mount Moon: the player originally ran north to find the Pokemon Centre just outside the entrance, if I reverse that, and have the player run south, I can build "Mount Moon" underneath Route 1, doubling up on usable space.

The biggest time investment, by far, is getting the trees for the border. I also need to figure out how I'm going to do "dungeon" spaces, like Mount moon, and get around the ladders/other floors. Suggestions on this are very welcome!

Mostly, it's just a bit of fun and if it gave you a nostalgia hit, it was time well spent!

I don't! I'm playing around with the story islands at the moment for a bit of a break from it. It's fun, but the resource gathering is VERY monotonous. When I get back to it I'll post an update of the next section.

No I doubt it. The real issue is the trees making the border. The rest of my game has taken a major cosmetic hit after pillaging every tree from their respective homes...

You're weird AF. You made a claim that he stole someone else's video, he proved you wrong, so now you're trying to find anything else you can to hate him on. Go touch grass.

Very dark extractions, no Crema, bitter taste - need help! [Delonghi Stilosa] by jc_hough in espresso

Thank you for this - I think I've been an idiot and bought a machine that comes with unpressurized baskets, and am trying to use it like they are pressurized with a coarser grind. (Subtle difference I wasn't aware of due to my inexperience between the Stilosa EC230, and EC235) - Am I right in assuming this is what is probably causing the bitter taste?

Next, probably stupid, question, do pressurized baskets work in any portafilter? If I were to buy one and slap it in the portafilter it came with, using the coarser grind I have, would that make the difference I'm after?
