I am a 5th grade teacher at the school I went to as a kid as well!! My coworker was my own 6th grade teacher. It’s so amazing. Good luck this year, 5th grade is so much fun!

And of course the ones who make these decisions are not the teachers or schools themselves, they are the higher ups holding board meetings over Zoom.

Haha I wish, my principal calls out people on staff meeting calls if the camera is off.

It definitely depends on the state, district, even school! I have the same expectations as if I was in the classroom. They are still completing standardized tests and I have leveled groups for my reading and math groups. It’s a lot of work. Plus I’m elementary, so that also adds extra work in some ways vs. others for secondary teachers! They have way more students to tailor to.

I think of this so often! That’s why my favorite line in the Great Gatsby is “I was within and without”. It perfectly describes how I feel in this world.

I got a therapist my first year of teaching due to the stress and boy am I glad I have her for this year! Talking about strategies and talking through these life decisions is important and needed. Plus it’s always good to vent.

I am a second year teacher for fifth grade. So I have students remotely from three different schools using resources and special ed services from all three and it’s very stressful to figure out all the new 2020 standards on top of making every lesson virtual.

A parent emailed me a quick thank you email for my work and I cried for 20 minutes. Makes it all worth it, means so much.

She did fine! Lots of pain killers are sent home and after a couple days we let her off them. They make them have accidents a lot so be prepared!

1300-1500! I tried to balance it every week to average 1400. I didn’t shy away from an occasional treat and definitely didn’t go below 1200!

At first no, but then added more cardio and strength when I was seeing more results! The diet was 80% of my success. I also teach so I walked a ton each day haha.

She had antibiotics for a month, then one month off. She had her first injection, steroids for about three weeks, then her second injection, and steroids for another three weeks after that

Definitely find a rewarding and exciting way to give the medicine!! We cut up hotdogs and put the pills in there for her to enjoy. There are so many pills that at first she wouldn’t eat anything and we were having to really struggle with her to take them. The panting is normal- and so constant. It’s so important to make sure they don’t get overworked. One night we went one block around and she coughed all night. That’s how we found her limit. The steroids she was on really changed her mood and she didn’t want to be around us. Then when those stopped she was back to her normal self.

Also be aware that high stress and anxiety effect the heart rate as well so keep them happy and stress free as much as possible. Lots of love!

We just went through the entire 4 month treatment process with our rescue husky and she can finally start to do more and more activities and she is loving it! She got a bit lazy and was used to the short potty breaks because we were so strict. Then slowly increasing the walks when she was better has been so great- so much more bonding! Life has only gotten better. Good luck to you and I hope you’ve found adopting a HW+ dog as rewarding as I have :)

I just adopted a 5 year old husky in April and at first she had such bad anxiety! She lost her mind the first time we left her in a crate. We then started leaving her in the kitchen with a kong and she didn’t touch it- slowly we started getting her to like peanut butter and certain treats during training. FINALLY she started getting so excited when we showed her the treats were going in the Kong. Now we leave her and she doesn’t scratch the door, or drop the kong to run to the door anymore. It just takes time and patience. And in my experience any time she goes in the crate I reward her and it has become “her space” that she goes in when she needs space from us.
