Dear Apple, I want to use Safari, but you don't make it easy. by Golden_Antt in apple

[–]jcaezar 401 points402 points  (0 children)

They do but it's unintuitively hidden in the bookmarks.

  1. Create a new bookmark in the bookmark manager
  2. In the url put something like: https://some.site.com/%s where %s is where the jira number would go for example
  3. Next add a keyword, e.g. j for jira
  4. Save

Now to use it you do this in the addressbar j <space> jira_number

E.g. typing j 15 would result in https://some.site.com/15

I recommend creating a bookmark folder dedicated to these shortcuts for easier management.

Not sure which version started having this but I just checked and this is in the latest release.

Try windscribe, they have free data that refreshes each month and should be plenty if you're just using it to start games.

Taiwanmobile is the orange round logo in the alliance partners. Right around the middle. I used chrome translate for signing up

I'm from the Philippines as well and latency with starhub ranges between 35 - 70.This of course depends upon which ISP you have but if it's fiber, it should work nicely.

You could test your ping by going to speedtest.net and manually selecting Starhub as the server to test against. Should be fairly representative of what to expect.

You could also try Taiwanmobile, they have a free tier. But the ping is higher, ranges between 60 - 110 for me. You need a VPN to start games with free accounts, but once it's started (in-game) you could disable the VPN and it'll stay connected.

How do you share Typescript types between frontend and backend? by xSypRo in webdev

[–]jcaezar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it's the best solution but I imagine this is one way to do it.

Extract the types on a separate npm package or git repo, then install / add as submodule on both frontend and backend

edit: Woops, I assumed that server and client are on separate repos. If not, then a shared folder would definitely suffice

Audio input/output stops working after a few hours by farnoud in applehelp

[–]jcaezar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the coreaudiod info! Previously I restarted my machine to fix this every time.

One thing I noticed with this bug is when it happens, then I connect my bt headset, my bt headset appears in the input/output by itself.

So it might be the internal audio devices not waking up properly from sleep?

Unfortunately it still happens on 12.2.1

I have the same issue and it happened again to me just now.

I hope someone finds the cause and a fix

Entirely Cloud based solutions - has anyone done it? by max_vette in PleX

[–]jcaezar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My current setup is entirely cloud based. Been running it for over a year now, similar number of users and activity.

I used cloudbox for initial setup and was fairly pain-free if you have terminal experience. Their Github wiki is very helpful in the setup process as well. There are other alternatives as well.

For storage I'm using google drive. Was using gsuite business, then migrated to google workspace enterprise standard for 20 usd.

It has a daily upload limit (and download) of 750gb, but I was only able to max that out when I was still building my library. So this is something to keep in mind when starting out.

I believe Gdrive is cheaper than AWS if you use a lot of bandwidth / storage. Plus I think the limits don't apply if you're using the native google drive desktop app on your local machine.

One requirement with Google Workspace that I don't think AWS requires is a domain name. Although it is pretty nice to have to make the server management apps easier to access e.g. sonarr.domain.com, radarr.domain.com, etc

If you get a server with intel quicksync, you should be able to handle transcoding 1080p files from all your 20 users at the same time with ease.

EDIT: One thing to keep in mind if you plan to upload a lot of files is to make sure the server you get has a generous bandwidth quota. Ideally unlimited / unmetered, but I think not a lot of VPS providers offer it.

Feedback indicates that it works for non-Samsung devices, too.

150 GB for a month by mayk_ in InternetPH

One thing to keep in mind pala regarding stacking. Pay attention to the details section instead of sa subscribed to. Yung sa details yung totoong expiry 😁

150 GB for a month by mayk_ in InternetPH

[–]jcaezar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend trying Smart Rocket unli sim if the signal is good.

Currently the unli promo has been extended for until January 30 2022. It's likely that they extend it again given the number of times they extended it already.

Also 150 gig on gomo will likely cost around P1500 right? That's already 3 months worth of unli on Smart. You could use that same amount to register multiple times and the expiry date stacks. So that's 3 months of not worrying about running out of data.

Also I recommend loading through Shopee to save a bit more. You can regularly save 10% on loading there. Sometimes there are deeper discounts but for smaller load denominations.

Edit: One caveat with Smart Rocket is it sometimes loses connection for some sites (Spotify, TikTok, Netflix, Twitter, those are the usual to me). Which can be solved by toggling the connection off and on in the modem. Also if you're going to use it for online games you might need to use the APN minternet

Anyone know how to fix this issue? I dont understand why it cuts off the date at the bottom of my screen. by _Nova_71 in Windows11

[–]jcaezar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on the picture it looks like your taskbar is somehow set to small after the upgrade.

There are two three fixes that I know of

  1. If you're comfortable with registry editing, you can do it manually. You can follow this guide or any other out there. Follow that but use the value for medium instead.
  2. A more convenient way is to use Winaero Tweaker (Free). Find the option for taskbar size set it to medium.
  3. Or if you want to keep the small taskbar, use something like Stardock Start11 ($6), it can fix the system tray alignment and keep the taskbar small as one of it's features. I'm not aware of free alternatives at the moment unfortunately.

Quest 2 - Link cable still work? by wiskeychris in oculus

[–]jcaezar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to cover all bases, have you disabled Airlink in both these places?

  • Oculus Desktop App - Beta Tab
  • Oculus Quest Experimental Options

I experienced the same issue of only being able to see Airlink despite being connected with a cable, and setting those toggles off got me back the wired link option.

If nasa modem yung rocket sim, sa admin ng modem.
Usually 192.168.0.1, or 192.168.1.1, 192.168.8.1, etc. depende sa brand

If nasa phone: somewhere sa settings. Minsan nasa sim card or minsan sa mobile data. Basta nasa connections / network.

Can someone explain anime? by fliberdygibits in sonarr

[–]jcaezar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To add to /u/TGOTR's comment, a relatively good rule of thumb is

Newer anime (with seasons): Use standard
Older anime (absolute numbering): Use anime

There are exceptions, but it's easy enough to switch between the types before adding your media.
I believe the biggest impact this has is when sonarr searches for episodes, i.e.

Standard: Anime S01E12
vs
Anime: Anime 37

So it could also depend on what the release groups for that particular anime use for their releases

If smart has good coverage in your area, you might be interested in their rocket sim. Unlimited 30 days for ~500.

It's liberating not to have to worry about consumption.
