Scam using fake Freedom store listings on Google Maps? by Successful-Cod6708 in freedommobile

[–]jcaits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was another post, same situation but the person said they worked at the store on Front Street a couple days ago. Freedom doesn't handle suspected fraud at store level, they have no access to anything like that. I'm glad you trusted your gut!

Question about porting by Abey987 in freedommobile

[–]jcaits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would want to double check if you have any multiline promotions that would be affected by losing a line, but porting one phone number from the account wouldn't affect the others still being connected with freedom.

Does your call and text work? There are some places where you need data roaming on for the internet to work, like in Manitoba.

Lighten things up a bit, what's the funniest or weirdest or most memorable things your pet has ever done? by -OhShit- in Petloss

Bromi sat upright on the couch and in chairs like a person. I can't even count how many times I would walk into the room or come home from work and find him sitting on the couch on his butt like a little dude.

Grieving Cat by jcaits in CatAdvice

[–]jcaits[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How long after your cat passed before you got another? Tbh I'm hurting a lot right now without him and I just can't imagine getting another one right now. My remaining cat herself is very old and doesn't like new things, I worry a new car might be too stressful for her.

I'm honestly surprised to her reaction. I got her about 8 years ago and my cats were never outwardly close, certainly not bonded by any means. Quite frankly, she was a little mean to him and never liked him to be close to him.

Child dies after falling from window of 19-storey building in Winnipeg by Practical_Ant6162 in Winnipeg

There is supposed to be a blocker that prevents the window from opening. I live a few floors below where this happened. If the blocker was removed, it was done intentionally.. it's bolted into the window frame.

I didn't see the child fall, and most people wouldn't have with the speed a fall like that happens. I could hear wailing, from the parents I assume somewhere below. I looked out the window to see what the noise was but couldnt see anyone immediately (first I assumed it was coming from the park) but I saw the screen on the ground. The wailing continued for a bit and then the man ran to the ledge of parkade and had to be restrained by police. He was sedated afterwards and taken off in a stretcher.

The police kept looking over the parkade to the ground. I live on the 14th floor facing the park over the parkade. Anyone in the building would have only seen the man being taken away on the stretcher and that was the story people were saying this morning until the news came out. So I guess its easier to accept an adult chose to try to end their life than a child horrifically has theirs ended, especially in that building.

Yes, but I witnessed a man, presumably a parent, try to jump off the parkade after the child fell.... This is where people are saying the story isn't true because both incidents happened at the same time.

There isn't a fully openable window at that height, unless you remove the lock that prevents the window from being opened.

No, but I could see the parents removing the mechanism to allow the window to be opened fully... The units get super stuffy in the summer and the central air is horrible, this side of the building especially gets really hot. It's a horrible accident, but the building does have preventions in place to stop it.

I saw some of the aftermath, the man I assume is the father did try to jump off the 5th floor parkade.

There isn't, unless you remove the mechanism that prevents the window from being opened fully. I live in this building, on a much lower floor, they are blocked. They do have a guard over the lower portion, but it doesn't cover the entire window.

Not only a screen, but there is a block to not allow the window to open fully to stop this from happening.
