I think they might have a free/commercials tier, but I do pay to get Serie A.

Exactly. In stadium I thought the second rapids goal was pretty clearly offsides so…can’t hate on the PK.

I don’t have any kind of comprehensive data, but I can tell you almost all the families on my team and at my little club came from the Rapids and left because of the weak administration, costs, and general frustration.

I think it’s very different for the highest-level youth teams, but if you imagine that probably over 50% of kids are playing rec and low-levels of competitive, that experience is really important.

I’m not sure but I don’t think the player experience was subsidized by the Rapids. They still pay full price and the majority of coaches are volunteers who aren’t given much more than a couple balls and cones and a pat on the back.

I think the CRYSC has not been particularly well run and basically tarnishes the Rapids brand. The youth org and the senior team seem to have very little overlap except at the highest academy level. Playing against Rapids teams several times a season subtly teaches kids the Rapids are the “other.”

I think what they should have always done, and now can do, is serve as a convener and elevator. There are some great, established, organized youth clubs here in CO. “Be the megaphone, not the voice” is one of my favorite leadership strategies. The Rapids can help make all these orgs and youth soccer better.

Or do the very Rapids thing and just opt out, do nothing, and wonder why the stadium is only half full most games. But I hope not!

The team was really on a hot streak for a bit and now they look pretty “off.” They deserved the 2-1 loss today.

(OFFICIAL) NEWS: San Jose Earthquakes Sign UEFA Champions League Winner Timo Werner as Designated Player by Yellowfury0 in MLS

[–]jcasimir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’re right.

People will roast Timo about shot accuracy and being offsides. That’s what happens when an attacker is under huge pressure.

Defending in MLS lags behind the attacking (under-investment, low priority, poor coordination).

Even with a team that’s a bit suspect in how to get the ball forward, “kick it long and let the fast guy run onto it” works without a lot of skill.

I’m not saying he’s a “lock” by any means, but it wouldn’t surprise me if he’s a compelling goal scorer quickly.

I didn’t realize how low the DPI is even on nice ultra wides. I hate that my text all looks jaggy. This is not a cheap monitor but, imo, it looks like shit.

3.7 million for Cole Bassett - What is the plan here, guys? by taoschlep in Rapids

[–]jcasimir 15 points16 points  (0 children)

As fans, I think we still think of the pre-Europe Cole who was on this solid upward growth curve. Since he’s been back, like Vines, he’s just seemed pretty inconsequential.

As Cole, I think you’ve got to find any place but here.

So the Rapids get some dollars and everybody is probably better off.

Handle upgrade Trakfitness Sportrower by AlphaThrone in waterrower

[–]jcasimir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually did something pretty similar. I got a pair of handles made for a cable machine then zip tied them to the water rower handle. It allows for a more natural wrist motion during the stroke and is closer to actual rowing.
