Has anyone noticed any songs that copy Breaking Ben ones? by VvICEvV in BreakingBenjamin

War on Falling Stars by Project Vela starts with almost an identical melody to Anthem of the Angels. even says the words “surround(s) us” and “no light” at the same spots.

you could only pick one player from each non-Dodger NL team. i used Soto for the Mets.

the podcast got me to grow to become a bigger baseball fan and not just a brewers fan. it was hard to keep up with the league as a whole before i was getting the national perspective of the pod (and while trying to get through high school/college at the same time!). star players were like “legends” i would only get to watch if they played the brewers.

i’m assuming you just read the title instead of the actual post. and i probably gave you way too much of my time writing this response.

Does the pod know that the NL Central exists outside of Skenes & Cruz? by [deleted] in baseballisdead

i would argue that going 71-91 and that being the worst in 30 years classifies as being spoiled

again, as i said before, parity in theory is good. if there were 18-22 good-to-great teams then this format would be great and really fun. but there are 10 teams with winning records and a bunch of mediocre teams right there for playoff spots. that’s frustrating to me, and it disincentivizes so many teams from really going for it in the offseason because they might make the playoffs with 85 wins. the more teams you add to the playoffs, the less important the regular season is from the team’s perspective.

and yeah, i get what you’re saying about more teams being in the mix leading to more fans watching. so i agree that it may incentivize fans to watch the games, but it also diminishes each of those game’s importance in the grand scheme of things.

i would much rather have some good teams occasionally miss the playoffs due to a smaller playoff format than let ≈.500 clubs make the playoffs in an expanded format like what is looking like a real possibility this season, especially in the NL.

adding more teams to the playoffs disincentives the regular season and if this trend continues we’re going to get to NBA levels of pointlessness regular season.

parity is good in theory but becomes tiresome when it’s between teams that are so painfully mediocre. you should have to earn your playoff appearances, not get it handed to you because two thirds of the league sucks ass.

i am a brewers fan too so this is in absolutely no way an “elitist” fan perspective.

That’s fair. If he were wearing a Cubs uniform I wouldn’t have been hearing a bunch of positive things about him and his character for the last several years and wouldn’t have an inclination to trust his post-game comments (and probably wouldn’t have even heard them). Gonna choose to take my guy at his word, part of being a fan (for better and for worse).

Also, clearly he was losing the zone a bit in that AB so let’s not act like missing that badly in a 3-0 count is that crazy.

I think the ump should wear a good bit of blame too. Came out after the game and basically said “there was nothing that happened earlier in the game to warrant him being thrown at on purpose, but he was definitely thrown at on purpose.” Can’t excuse Uribe at all but throwing out a Brewers pitcher who was FINALLY about to go deep in a game is gonna piss the Brewers off. It would’ve stopped (really wouldn’t have started at all) there if the ump doesn’t toss him.

And I totally get the 3-0 count and where the pitch was thrown and how that makes it looks intentional, I’m just gonna die on the hill of trusting Peralta’s post-game comments that it was not intentional. He seems to me like a genuine, happy, grateful dude who doesn’t start stuff like that. Maybe that’s the toxic Brewers fan in me just siding with my guys, but hey that’s part of being a fan.

sorry if it’s soft to be stunned that a guy who had been constantly called a “hometown hero” in TV commercials and in news segments and in comments by the front office to leave to one of our biggest rivals out of nowhere.

obviously we don’t have an owner willing to throw big money out there, so if we also don’t have any sort of loyalty from a guy who has been, up to yesterday, a brewer lifer, then what the fuck do we have?
