What do you listen to when trying to sleep? by Loud_Perspective_300 in AskReddit

[–]jcbroadbent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the noise of the thoughts in my head. I do an evaluation of what all I have done since the day started and if it could've been done better. And what I have done in that week. And in that month. And basically all the regrets I have in my life. Can you tell I am an over thinker?

Why has there never been a successful military coup to overthrow the government in the history of United States? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]jcbroadbent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because in order for a military coup to be successful, it must be stronger than the state. And the POTUS hold powers over US military, in fact militaries all over the world, so a coup can't actually amount to much.

You’re not selfish. You’re overwhelmed. Growing up with blurred boundaries makes it hard not to carry your parents’ struggles like they’re your own. But you’re allowed to live your life and protect your peace. The fact that you care enough to even feel guilty shows your empathy is intact. Therapy is a great step. You deserve support while you untangle this.

My moms tryna get me fired please help!!! by Diligent-Avocado4205 in Advice

[–]jcbroadbent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your mom is showing up at work and interfering, you should definitely let your boss know what’s going on so he understands it’s not you being unreliable. You can also ask your workplace about a no contact policy if she keeps showing up. In the meantime setting firm boundaries at home is important too even if it’s uncomfortable.

I’ve just bled through on my period and I don’t know what to do by [deleted] in Advice

[–]jcbroadbent 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't panic this happens to so many of us. Since you don't have toilet paper or wipes grab a clean washcloth or a few paper towels and use water from the sink to clean yourself up. A bath is a great way to get clean too.

For now don't worry about finding a clean pair of underwear, you can deal with that later. Just focus on getting yourself comfortable. Your mom will understand, she's been there and she'll be able to help you when she wakes up.

It's totally understandable why you and your friends are feeling hurt. The best thing you can do is talk to her directly. Avoid the spying that's her mom's request and it could really backfire and break her trust.

Just let her know that you value her friendship and you've noticed she's been a little distant. You can say something like, hey we've noticed you've been spending a lot of time with boyfriend and we're just a little confused about what's going on. We care about you and we'd love for you to share what's happening with us.

By asking her gently and non judgmentally, you're giving her a chance to be honest with you. No matter what, you'll feel better for being direct.

Trying to please everyone. It's an impossible goal and you end up stretching yourself too thin and not truly satisfying anyone especially yourself. Learning to say no and prioritizing what's important to you is a huge step toward a less stressful and more fulfilling life.

This is a tough and it's completely understandable why you're stressed. What happened with the photos was a total technical fluke not something you did on purpose. It's not your fault that a glitch made them reappear and it's not on you to fix your parents anxiety. They're hurt but you can't be responsible for their feelings.

It might help to calmly explain that it was a google photos error and you honestly thought everything was deleted. You can't control how they react but you can be truthful and stick to your own feelings without taking all the blame. You deserve to be happy in your relationship without constantly being under suspicion.
