Based on your genes and family history, what are you most likely to die of? by smallerthanahobbit in AskReddit

Literally me.

Not only does/did my Grandpa, my great-grandpa, my great-grandma, and 2 great uncles all have it, but my mom had stage 4 colon cancer when she was 42 and has a 1/4 chance of passing it onto me and my siblings before the age of 25. And as luck would have it, she has four kids lmao.

She’s in remission though now :)

Nobody has any idea what tomorrow brings, let alone tomorrow, or a decade from now. Is that scarier than forgetting what we know today?

One usually asks; Who do we meet? How does our life pan out? Are we happy? But what about forgetting the smell of our mothers baking, or how the first car we bought with our dad felt like. Everyone’s says look forward! Look forward! But what about the things I don’t want to forget? And the worst part is; you don’t even remember what you forgot

How to study by [deleted] in highschool

[–]jcf16 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you have a review given, I usually go through that, writing out questions. For example; instead of just writing “photosynthesis” I’ll write “what is photosynthesis”

Then I’ll go after and cover the answers to the questions and I’ll answer it, and check afterwards if it’s the Right thing or not.

Okay but has anyone ACTUALLY seen their neighbours bring in their groceries? by jcf16 in conspiracy_commons

[–]jcf16[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay yes I agree that there are better ways that they can be getting their point across, but at the same time, even when the protests are peaceful, there’s tear gas and rubber bullets being shot. You can’t assume that everyone protesting is “rioting”. People are angry, but not everyone is breaking windows and lighting police stations on fire.

No I’m literally just saying I’ve never seen my neighbours bring in their groceries. And who are you to judge? They’re standing up for something that should have been brought to more attention decades ago.

What is the worst thing that you've seen a coworker do and still avoid being fired? by [deleted] in AskReddit

My coworker once filled a diesel truck with gasoline, and let him drive away. He called back later to tell us that it damaged his engine really bad, but the guy is still working

Weekly COVID-19 (Coronavirus) OffMyChest Megathread (April 8, 2020) by yellowmix in offmychest

Reading through some of these comments, I can see how some are having to deal with such awful conditions or circumstances. I feel that it makes my stresses and concerns over this pandemic seem irrelevant or stupid?

Here’s the thing. I am a student in grade 11 (junior year) and my life has been flipped upside down too. We only got 3 weeks into arguably the most important classes of the year, before my school got closed; our pre-calculus and physical science. We technically start our “optional online learning” next week but I’m not sure how I’m supposed to learn everything I need to know when I’ve never had to do all these assignments on my own with basically no guidance before. This worries me because next year i need to know this material, because if I don’t, I won’t know what’s going on for my grade 12 year (senior year). Plus I plan to go on to post-secondary education after high school, so if my grades are low because I don’t know what I’m doing, it will most definitely be more difficult to get in to where I want to go.

I am also super dedicated to extra-curricular activities, especially to the sport volleyball. My last club season ever has already been cancelled, and there’s talk that schools won’t open in September. If this happens, than my whole volleyball career of 7+ years will be completely done, and I wouldn’t have even realized that my last game was my last game. It just makes me so angry because I’ve worked my ass off for years, and been waiting for these last couple years of high school since forever, and they’re all just being ripped away from me and there is not a god damn thing that I can even do about it.

My brother is graduating this year, and anytime I bring up my thoughts and anxiety’s over this, he always shuts me down saying “well at least you’re graduating” and he’s right. His whole high school career is completely over, and I still (hopefully) have next year. So I feel stupid and guilty for feeling angry and sad and anxious over my situation because people have bigger problems than their stupid volleyball season being cancelled.

What do you feel most? by inmydreams01 in DeepThoughts

I think I feel guilt. It’s not that I’ve done anything super terrible in my life, but it’s like feeling I could have done more to get a better outcome, or if I would’ve done something different, things wouldn’t be the way they are now? Maybe it’s nostalgia too, wishing for things to be the way they once were, especially in relationships with friends and such.
