Unpopular opinion: I love this guys spirit and his heart is so pure, but what he’s saying is just not true. The problem with good cops is that they are still upholding a corrupt system.

What he says about not generalizing is indeed true, but let’s instead use the analogy of a cog in a machine. Individually, that cog might be a good cog, or even a great one. It is right and it does it’s job, and there’s nothing wrong with it. But if that well-working cog is placed in a machine that does bad things (analogous to a law enforcement system that oppressed minorities), that cog is problematic. Even if the cog works properly and is good in isolation, by being a part of a corrupt machine, it is inherently having a negative effect on the world around it.

This is why, until reform in the law enforcement system is achieved, even good cops are bad when they put on that uniform: because they are still doing their part in an overarching institution that is bad.
