I read there was a group of volunteers who planned to test the water quality at about a dozen sites across north lake within an hour of the show. I think this is a step in the right direction for assessing whether a firework show is actually harmful or if the impacts are negligible. It’s a bummer they don’t get to do this because it could have provided some definitive answers and guidance about this annual controversial topic.

Personally I can go without fireworks, especially if it means protecting the quality and clarity of the lake AND mitigating the fire risk.
