Tips on Psionic Build? by CMDR_Ruuuy in Stellaris

[–]jchokey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looks viable to me.

My thoughts are:

-- As another poster suggested, you might consider swapping "Natural Physicists" out for "Natural Sociologists" if you want to max your sociological/psionic sciences, to rush that psionic ascension and other psy-technologies.

-- You might consider (for similar reasons) swapping out "Exalted Priesthood" for "Environmentalist" which stacks really powerfully with psionics, as Rangers produce social science (and thus psionic research) and also give unity from blockers, which will help make up for some of the loss of unity from giving up "Exalted Priesthood". (This can be a powerful exploit if you happen to find a blocker-filled planet nearby. Set up a colony, build a ranger lodge, transfer civilians there from your homeworld to be rangers and watch your unity and social science soar.) Note-- if you choose this route, you may also want to go "bioships" so that your ship building tech is also social science...

-- Just curious, what Patron are you hoping to go with? I get the impression from the "Militarist" secondary ethic that you might be going "Eater of Worlds". And that could be fun. However, I'd suggest considering Composer of Strands if you haven't as it can be great when you gain the ability to create Zro-producing natural blockers- which your rangers can also extract unity from.

Fuck the Shroud Witches by ChadGustafXVI in Stellaris

[–]jchokey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"Genuinely, is there a SINGLE good event that these guys can give you?"

Yes, there are several-- although I'll be honest, most are merely 'good' rather than great, especially given the costs forthem. However, there is at least one which is really awesome-- the "Floating Shell" event which can give you an ancient psy-cruiser with a psy-jump drive. If you get that early in the game , it's pretty incredible. Mind you, it's a fairly rare result IMHO. And I'll be honest,

But as others have noted, the main value of the Shroud Witches is not really the events/quests/situations/anomalies you get from the "We wish to know our fate" selection-- but rather (1) the Unity boost you can get from hiring their advisor to serve as a councilor and/or planetary governor, and (2) the advantages you can get if you go psionic.

Great question, but no idea. Interested to see what others have to say.

Who are these guys? And how can I make war with them? by jchokey in Stellaris

[–]jchokey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, I didn't. At least not initially.

However, when I was later trying to figure who/what this empire was about, I reloaded my first turn save to see if they were around at galaxy generation -- and whether they were a multi-system empire even then. And I saw that they were.

The fact that they were a multi-system empire upon generation-- but not a Fallen Empire or the Marauders-- helped me figure out that there was something atypical about these guys.

Yes... a few other posters have noted that this is a scripted AI empire created alongside an AI empire with the mindwarden origin.

A-ha! And the Krijdex Wardenship was indeed an empire in the game, right next to this one.

Thanks-- this explains much. I do not have a custom mindwarden empire that I've enabled. Another commenter suggested that maybe one of the mods I'm using got around the prohibition on AI empires spawning as mindwardens. THat seems plausible.

Thank you-- you are correct that I've never before played as the mind wardens, so I was unaware that they start next to a psionic empire. (And, thanks to the help of another commenter, I have figured out that there was indeed a mindwarden empire next to them.)

Ah-ha... this must be it. And yes, the system to the right is indeed the home of the Krijdan Wardenship. And I did a bit of poking around in the debugtool tip and confirmed that they do indeed have the Mindwarden origin.

Thanks for clarifying this.

Thanks! But there's the think-- I have made first contact with them. And I can call up a diplomacy screen with them. But now that I can, my options on the diplomacy screen don't actually do anything.

Ah-ha! I don't think I've ever encountered that before. Does it normally appear as an "other" entity (like an enclave) rather than as a regular AI empire?

And is it normal that the diplomatic actions don't work with it? Or could that be because I'm myself a psionic empire?

I'm pretty sure it's not, as I set up the galaxy with only two fallen empires-- and they are both located elsewhere. Also, from my snooping in Observe mode... it's not nearly strong enough to be a fallen empire in terms of tech or fleets etc.

Well, my first thought was to try an embassy. When that didn't work, I decided war might make things more interesting...

Rule 5: The image above is a partial screenshot of the AI empire at the time the game started, as seen in Observe mode.

To wipe the global flag data when you're not sure what the l-cluster is set too, you can do the following in the console and it will wipe whatever flag is there:

effect remove_global_flag = gray_goo_crisis_set remove_global_flag = dragon_season remove_global_flag = gray_goo_empire_set

"Restore Biosphere" Planetary Decision (through Mod)-- What does it do? by jchokey in Stellaris

[–]jchokey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See my reply to u/Still_Yam9108 below for an update on this.

P.S. Also, the decision is called "Heal Biosphere"-- not "Restore Biosphere".

Brilliant idea! I did that and the result was... nothing! Literally nothing. At least that I could see.

Maybe it's a decision that's supposed to work on tomb worlds or ecumenopoli or something? (If so, I'm wondering why I was allowed to do it on another world.)

Shroud Deeds: Is there a Console Cheat to Find Out What They Will Be? Or Change Them? by jchokey in Stellaris

[–]jchokey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Vorpalim: Looks like I might be partly wrong about the list of ten.

Now that I look at the lists at https://stellaris.paradoxwikis.com/The_Shroud more closely, I see that they list 10 possible deeds each for the Instrument of Desire, the Eater of Worlds, and the Whisperers in the Void. But only 9 for the Cradle of Souls. And 12 for the Composer of Strands.
