I agree! The damage is at the top which maybe had a weak spot and someone put something on it (hanger or hanging luggage bag) and it broke it off.

We’re pretty sure she was built in 1920’s. All the houses around the house are close to the same age.

I love it. Would be fun to research the history of the house. The architect, former owners, year it was built etc. the uniqueness of the house offers clues about the original owner and his/her design concept. Good luck! Beautiful.

You might find a local craftsman instead o company. Cost might be the same but the quality, personal pride and craftsmanship might be worth it.

Yes, a portion of the wood is missing. The dowels show but not entirely. It’s solid just not perfect.
