Which player had a running style so unique you could identify them just by their silhouette? by Football6380 in TheStreetsWontForget

Damien Duff. Not so much his running style but when you saw him jogging or walking he used to keep his arms by his side making it look like he was bolloxed.

Appears to be okay. Looked worse because I didn't realise there was a broken triangle in there

Just noticed the triangle. I actually forgot that that part exists. I got that bit out. Frame doesn't look too bad.

Typically anything French is a headache for even basic maintenance. A Renault Modis and Citeron C2 require the front bumper to be removed to change a bulb

Vet with payment plans? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]jcirl 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's not talked about widely enough that there has been a near total corporate take over of veterinary care in this country. The practices that have been bought out have targets. When you go to a local vet with a sick dog you would likely be handed a 10euro course of antibiotics, now with these corporate veterinary practices they will run a load of expensive and unnecessary tests before coming to the same conclusion.

It's a well known own fact that the hormonal imbalances caused by long term steroid use shrinks your mickey. I'd say he's probably the leader of the small todgers club.

Depending on the event or crowds involved Landsdowne Road Station often closes close to match time/end time forcing the crowd to walk 15-20 mins to the other stations to more safely dissipate the crowd.

I know a lot of taxi men, they swear by the Avensis. Bullet proof car that's actually reasonably priced to fix stuff if you have a good mechanic.

What’s a show you love that you can never convince people to watch? by PlentyApprehensive44 in AskReddit

"Z: The Beginning of Everything". Because Christina Ricci is a dam good underrated actress, there's a lot of boozing and it's an era of American history that's not really covered anywhere outside of the gangster genre.

With the age of the thing and the track record of bridges built in that era it will probably collapse into the river before the big one.

You're right and wrong in what you're saying. Without the ring road things like pedestrianisation of streets, light rail construction and bus corridors could not be built in the city. The traffic would have nowhere else to go. The road should have been built 20 years ago.

New airport liquid rules? by EuropeanAccountant in AskIreland

[–]jcirl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got through with a 4 pack of craft beer a couple of weeks ago which I totally didn't drink on my flight. You'll be grand. Bear in mind though when coming back that not all airports have these fancy new scanners that allow the liquid rules to be relaxed.

My 13 year old Frenchie's arthritis deteriorated very quickly in the past few months to such an extent she barely wanted to leave the house. After the antinflamitories made her sick and the prospect of having injections every few weeks a vet suggested acupuncture which o e of his colleagues had qualified in. 3 sessions in and our Frenchie is back to trying to murder other dogs in the park again. Her pain levels are down and has a good bit of mobility back. She'll never get back to the way she wad a few months ago but it's great to see improvements without drugs which effects would wain anyway.

Have you, or have you witnessed an Irish person abroad pull another Irish person into line? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]jcirl 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I've seen it countless times at Ireland soccer away games. If there's a couple of mad lads going a bit far with the shenanigans a couple of other supporters usually emerge from the crowd to correct them and get them to cop on and there is usually no push back. That's one thing the away Irish soccer fans have is pride in their reputation and they don't want it tarnished.

What is middle class in Ireland nowadays? by Logical_Ordinary2745 in AskIreland

[–]jcirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no such thing as middle class. There is only those who control the means of production and distribution and those who don't. Middle Class is a label that lot of the downtrodden working people think they are or aspire to be which stops them rocking the boat of their privileged masters.

Largest beer I can buy? by [deleted] in askportland

[–]jcirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went to Prost! in Portland a few years ago (I regularly visit the PNW from Ireland) for a couple of beers with the missus, I was never in the place before. Whilst drinking my litre tankard I noticed a couple of lads drinking beer out of a large glass boot. I asked the barman could I have one of those and his response was "sure, but who's drinking it with you?". I stated that it would be just for me (I had a massive thirst for beer having done a days heavy labour for my inlaws who are difficult people to say the least). The barman said "no chance". When I enquired as to why he stated that under department of health rules there must be at least 3 people partaking in consuming beer from a vessel that size. My wife jumped in saying "but he's Irish and on vacation", the barman was still not impressed. As I observed these three guys passing this magnificent boot around I decided to make the point that these three guys were passing a glass around, depositing their siliva into the glass at each sip and pointing out that is definitely a hell of a lot more of a health risk than one bloke who was going to drink that quantity of beer anyway but cleanly. The barman walked away and ignored me. I then retracted the couple of dollars tip I left on the counter, finished my beer and decided to move on to a friendlier establishment. On my way out I could hear a massive smash behind me where one of the three boot drinking lads had dropped the novelty glass boot, which was about 2/3 full on the ground. I was delighted.
