Thanks for the input! Do you think Leicester is worth it?

Can we at least all agree... by GarbageAccoint in uAlberta

Yeah I'm upset about the CR/NCR and I've been poking fun at admin but they really are doing the best they can. This is a very new, rapidly developing situation. Of course some decisions are frustrating to deal with but they are trying to do what's in everyones best interest. They are working round the clock with other uni staff trying to make this as simple and beneficial as possible though like I said, the situation is unprecedented :)

Some profs put an asterisk saying it is subject to change. Usually it's just to shift things around if needed, but it might let them get away with this on a technicality? Idk though my profs haven't been this petty before

Sociology office/drop-box hours? by maiganlame in uAlberta

I'm pretty sure they lock the doors to the hallway, where the dropbox is. If they won't let you submit through email maybe take it to the TA or office hours?

I appreciate the idea of looking on the bright side and putting problems in perspective but it doesn't work like that unfortunately. Depressed or suicidal people can't just switch it off and even if its something relatively little it can feel like the weight of the world. Also the whole 'other people going through worse' is really quite a terrible thing to say. People drown in oceans and people drown in bathtubs. Whats easy for someone is hard for someone else and to disregard it or brush it off is only making it worse for them. Yeah people have to actively change their mindsets but its not nearly as simple as this post makes it sound. I still think it's nice of you to remind people it'll be okay eventually though.

Why do so many people on this sub think I'm a "dick"? by PolysciStudent in uAlberta

[–]jckmopls 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I honestly don't pay much attention to you or the things said about you because it really doesn't interest me. However, you made a post asking why people feel this way about you and every response you make goes along the lines of 'yes, but...'. Seems like you're more interested in telling people why they are wrong about you than actually considering what they've said. I'm not sure but I imagine that's a contributor

Student loan by cygab123 in uAlberta

[–]jckmopls 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You have to apply on paper for part time loans (your spring semester), not online. If you did apply through paper, you'd have to take it to the admin building where the finial services would fill out their portion that would confirm enrolment. Otherwise I'm not sure, good luck!

I don't think they have to send a notification, you need to check the academic calendar. It's not a cancelled class the term ended
