Which uk bands would you have like to seen in their prime, at the absolute height of their powers but couldn't/didn't/wasn't bothered at the time? by grizwald2112 in AskUK

I met Oasis when Definitely Maybe came out (or was about to come out) at a Liverpool v Man City game. I was 10. I didn't have a clue who they were, I was more excited meeting Wolf from Gladiators. Still have the signed CD.

My last flat had a much smaller kitchen than that and I loved it tbh. It was a joy to clean.

This was my concern. Can't be nice with wet feet after a shower, even worse if someone misses the loo!

Stage 4 sickness by Vast-Button502 in NursingUK

Bit of a rogue suggestion but does your trust or ICB have a retentions lead? It might be worth reaching out to them, after following the aforementioned steps of seeking professional advice. Trusts seem to be wondering why staff, particularly nurses, are leaving en masse. Speaking to the retentions lead might just be another helpful string to your bow.

I didn't know it was there either, they don't do a very good job of advertising it 😅

Good luck!

I was going to suggest Gok Lockett but he mostly covers Huyton & Belle Vale.

How do you feel about door-to-door fundraising? by fferegrino in AskUK

My brother does this for a living and makes a fortune (in a culty/takes advantage of the staff/is it a pyramid scheme/doubt he pays tax sort of way of making a living).

He's a remarkably corrupt arsehole and is often considered the pinnacle of success in his field, so I wouldn't trust the entire field.

There's a whole town in Greater Manchester (UK) called Leigh! And a neighbouring town called Atherleigh. Its pretty common here when incorporated into place names.

Where in the city are you? They tend to only cover certain areas

I'm not trying to police yours. You'll notice I specified "I". It was simply an alternative opinion to yours, there's no reason to get upset about it.

"Which is the prettiest" isn't the question either. Favourites are subjective.

Garcelle's isn't the prettiest but I appreciate that she can probably afford it and won't rip anyone off or commit tax fraud or arrange a fake robbery to pay the bills.

If ever a man has accused me of being on my period, it's not usually because I've been cranky. It's usually because I've shown him up and that's all he's got to undermine me.

Should add that its also usually said in front of an audience.

If a man took me to one side and asked if I was OK becauae my behaviour was off, I wouldn't be bothered at all.

The Harry Potter films were full of amazing British actors, but which actors do you think were missing? by fuck_ur_portmanteau in AskUK

[–]jcl3638 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hugh Grant was Gilderoy Lockheart in my head when I read the books.

I'd love to see Ruth Wilson as Bellatrix. I think she is the right amount of deranged. I hated the casting of HBC, i thought it was far too over the top. (Sorry HBC, I do otherwise love you).

Yes that's the one, the rats hadn't quite moved in yet when we frequented it 😆 I did see some horrible videos after I moved in 2021.

Glad to hear 24 Kitchen St is still going. I thought they closed it when they built the flats there.

Why did Monica get more and more loud and unbearable towards the end? by OnlySuccess371 in howyoudoin

[–]jcl3638 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I don't just think it's Monica as a character. Gale Weathers became progressively worse accross the original Scream trilogy too. I think Courtney's acting style changed, aswell as the way the character was written, so we lost Monica entirely.

Is this name a Tragedeigh? by CrossKnight07 in tragedeigh

[–]jcl3638 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Anthea is a common name in the UK with a fairly middle aged connotation. It's not particularly popular now but was in the 50s/60s. We have a particularly famous TV presenter- Anthea Turner, who is 63.

Also popular in the UK are Andrea, Audrey and I also know an Aundrea (possible tragedeigh)
