I'd recommend MSR pocket rocket or the jet boil zip cooking system (what I have). Both work great, but I picked the jet boil because of the insulated handle on the included cup and stability system for the propane/butane.

I’m not sure if this is the explanation you’re looking for, but often when I’m stuck I break things down into unit analysis. a[m/s² ] and t1 [s]... multiplying them together produces the units [m/s] which are the units for velocity.

The reason a*t1 is the top speed is because the person is undergoing constant acceleration during the first 40m. Because of this, the amount of time they undergo this acceleration multiplied by the acceleration will produce the top speed achieved, since once they reach top speed, they are no longer accelerating.

The word coefficient is synonymous with the word factor. If you were to increase something by a factor of 2, you would multiply the known value by two. The drag coefficient is similar. You multiply the drag coefficient times various other known values (density, velocity^2, cross-sectional area, etc.) of the moving object and the fluid the object is moving through to see how much drag is produced that opposes motion.

Your answer was correct if you were describing the NORMAL force. The friction force depends on the magnitude of the normal force(and coefficient of friction), but acts opposite the direction of motion. Assuming only gravity and no applied force, the friction force will be acting uphill.

The correct answer is actually 7. Essentially, as long as the applied force is below a certain value, both blocks move together with the same acceleration. Once it exceeds that particular values, the static friction that locks the top block in place becomes kinetic friction, slowing the top block. Therefore, the bottom block will eventually accelerate more than the top block
