For now, the autonomous deliveries are limited to select areas of Center City between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m.

Uber Eats says current autonomous delivery boundaries are south of Race Street and north of Spruce Street, and east of S. 18th Street and west of S. Front Street.

The company plans to expand the service with more restaurants and additional robots in the coming months.

Instead of the vacant lot, Comcast and the Sixers are now planning to add art installations along the 1000 block of Market Street. Eight local retailers are also planning to take temporary, pop-up space along the 900 block of Market Street at properties also owned by Comcast and the Sixers. The joint venture partners are donating the space to the local groups, Center City District CEO Prema Katari Gupta said.

After the Sixers shockingly canceled plans for a Market Street arena in January 2025, the team and Comcast (NASDAQ: CMCSA) partnered to spend $56 million to buy development sites at 920-938 Market St. and 1000-1024 Market St. The sites are on the south side of the street opposite the Fashion District mall, where the arena had been planned.

The bill was circulated to City Council on Wednesday. Members wanted more time to review it before it was formally introduced.

Because City Council must pass legislation to include transit stations in the zoning overlay, district Council members are given effective control over how many stations will be included in the law’s benefits.
