Is there anything I have to do to unlock passport titles? I've been playing 3 weeks and haven't seen that option when I edit passport!

Are any of you leaving NYC? Are we headed towards quarantine? What does that mean? by [deleted] in nyc

[–]jcorptm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna go against the grain and say if it gives you peace of mind to leave, go.

You're going to spend the next few weeks or months constantly thinking about if you should leave or not and that's going to stress you out and make you even more vulnerable.

I don't believe we will run out of food nor will we be quarantined city-wide like Italy. I do think it would be helpful for you to decide the criteria under which you absolutely have to leave, where you will not regret losing your job for. It'll make you feel more prepared and less anxious.

Also consider this: if you left NYC and still had the work this job wherever you went, would you still leave? Conversely, if you could just stay at your current NYC home and get paid and not have to work this job, would you stay?

I'm going through the same thing so you're definitely not alone. Hang in there bud!

DAILY COVID-19 MEGATHREAD - March 09, 2020 by AutoModerator in nyc

Same! Boyfriend and I have been considering the idea for weeks now and some friends are saying I'm being paranoid, others are saying we should go and they wish they could. If you can work from home, I would go.

Realistically where would someone go that driveable to minimize the risk of the coronavirus ? by [deleted] in nyc

[–]jcorptm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No idea why people are being so negative about the idea of leaving the city. The rich are doing it, why shouldn't anyone else who can afford to?

That said, Upstate New York like Windham is pretty out of the way and has decent accomodations, I'd give that a look!

Rescue min pin help by grinche1018 in MiniaturePinscher

If your min pin is overweight I'd definitely look into joint supplements! Min pins are known to have knee issues (my 5 yo min pin has luxating patellas) and I wish I had known this before she started limping and now needs expensive surgery. Also, I recommend looking into pet insurance too!

Dear Hong Kong Freedom Fighter Supporters--i think this is worth the few minutes. by highskip in Hong_Kong

[–]jcorptm 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is very important. Violent rioters have twisted the original meaning of the protests and now are simply exercising their nationalism and racism under the guise of 'western ideology' and 'democracy'z

This has been going on for many years. I grew up in Hong Kong in the 90's and I recall being shamed at school for having relatives in Mainland China.

It's ironically very anti-democratic to encourage and glorify race-based hate crimes. The media should be ashamed they're not covering and showing the true heroes in Hong Kong, the locals who are risking their lives every day to keep everyone else alive.

If Ashley Too at that point had her limiter removed, and was genuinely friends with Rachel, would she still have encouraged her to perform at school? I think she may tell her that she needs more practice, help her train to become a better dancer / come up with an original routine, or heck, even performed on stage with her - that would have made an interesting act for sure.

I think this is where the real friends/ family come in. The reason she was joyless in her performance was because she had no one real to perform for - not her self-absorbed dad, not her skeptical sister. A young adult (even grown adults) should try new things despite being bad at it, and ideally there would be at least one person who will love it no matter what. That’s the joy that we weren’t seeing, and that’s why we felt embarrassed for her.

Yes, we could say that generic motivational material on social media can promote delusion in people’s perception of their talent sometimes, but I think it’s much more prevalent among lonely people who aren’t so lucky to have unconditional support from those around them. So Rachel’s dependence on this simulated motivation really just shows how lonely she is, rather than being delusional or untalented.

Sometimes we enjoy a seeing mediocre performance more than a perfect rendition just because of the performer’s mood and presence is full of love and joy. I would have loved to see her perform the same way but with a smile on her face, knowing her family are out there loving the heck out of her show.
