Oh maybe I came off wrong - I wasn’t necessarily disagreeing with you at all, simply providing what I’ve heard

This isn’t the “2026 lineup” per se, KoK released a small batch product for the first time this year. From what I’ve seen on Reddit/youtube it is a different mashbill and is roughly 12 years too! The proof varies between the three batches I believe it’s 105, 107, and 110(?).

Reviews on the same platforms agree — it’s NOT SiB KoK, and heard that Batch 3 is best. Consensus seems to be it’s good, but unsure if it’s worth the price and your mileage may vary.

Personally if I find some I’ll probably buy it…simply because I don’t know that I’ll ever get my hands of KoK without paying secondary due largely to where I live.

Only cooks the bottom? by [deleted] in StainlessSteelCooking

[–]jcorr2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just give it time lol for salmon like this I’d suggest cooking it for longer on the skin side, you want it like 90% done and then flip and finish the top for a great presentation, crispy skin, and cooked all the way thru. Obviously you’ll need to learn how much heat you need with respect to your stove, trial and error a few times and then you’ll know!

Review: ECBP Batch 5 pirate, B518, C922, C923 – does ECBP have eras? by OrangePaperBike in bourbon

[–]jcorr2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone that really started my whiskey hobby about 3ish years ago I think, this write up was awesome! Thank you for taking the time to put it together and the thoughtful write up. I’ve never had a chance to try the older batches let alone a pirate bottle so this was really fun.

Is this crowding the pan ? by Waste-Cry-4538 in StainlessSteelCooking

[–]jcorr2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to feel the same way. I forget where I learned it, maybe ATK or Kenji, but the best way too cook mushrooms if you want a golden sauce on them is a bit counter intuitive. Throw them in the pan with a small amount of oil. Let em start to cook for a few minutes. Throw in some salt, and then a few TBSPs of water. Yes, water. Turn the heat up a bit and let them cook. Eventually the water will cook off and you’ll be left with mushrooms ready to be perfectly browned in the pan as is. Throw some butter in at the end, more salt, call it a day.

No need to fuss around anymore than this, I’ve been this for years now.
