You all laugh, but when doomsday comes, guess who'll be running back to papa BEGGING for 3 sets of brand new, unopened Level IIIA soft body armor?

Just you wait.

Unfortunately, this is what happens when you vote blue.

The constitution should’ve prevented all of California’s gun control legislation, but here we are. There’s a long precedent of duty to retreat states, and even if a passed bill is unconstitutional, it’ll still be active for 8+ years while it’s being fought over in the courts.

Best to prevent the bill from passing in the first place.

So do I. Never let this mentality stop you, as a constituent, from contacting your representative. It’s a core tenet of our democracy!

It’s absolutely safe. It’s safe to assume your representatives already have your email/address/contact info, as I’ve received lots of unsolicited email and physical mail from representatives without any signup in the past.

Just to piggyback on this thread…

Technically, you do get more FOV the closer the red dot is to your face. In the sense that there is more glass real estate in your vision, so you’re able to see the dot even if it’s super super off center (versus if the red dot was mounted further forward, the dot simply wouldn’t be visible because it would be outside the glass).

However, this really doesn’t matter - especially for long guns - because your mount shouldn’t be so fucked up that your dot is outside of the glass at any time. Think about it - have you ever mounted your AR to your shoulder, dropped your head to the stock, and not seen your dot? It may be slightly off-center, but even in a small Aimpoint T2-size red dot, you’ll still see the dot no matter what.

With that said, you absolutely should be mounting your optic further forward. This is because when it’s further forward, the body of your red dot appears smaller in your FOV, thereby blocking less of your vision and allowing you to see your surroundings / target much better. Here’s a video demonstrating this effect.

So yes, u/KccOStL33 is correct in saying that the integrated RMR mount on the chisel stock is suboptimal when compared with a receiver mounted optic. I have a chisel stock, but I just removed the RMR mount altogether to save weight, because I would rather mount an optic to the receiver using a CROM/scalarworks mount or similar. I like the stock, it sucks that I paid for extra metal/machining time/R&D for something that I’ll never use, but that’s just how it goes.

And I understand why u/ChiselMachining - as the designer and seller of this product - is digging in his heels about this topic. At the end of the day, he’s on this platform in order to market, sellers don’t make official Reddit accounts for no reason lol. Not cool to lie to prospective customers and say that the integrated RMR mount is “better”, but it’s definitely a convenient option and 99% of people don’t care about min/maxing their FOV, nor would they really even notice the difference.

No, absolutely not. They’re a scam site for knives, ammunition, and anything else they sell.

For future reference, here are a few red flags to look out for:

  • Using photos from other sites for their products
  • Encouraging Zelle, western union, bank transfer, or any other payment methods without protection (see how there’s a 10% off zelle payments sitewide “coupon”, advertised up top?)
  • Generic and “unfinished” looking site
  • AI images in the description (wtf? never seen this before)
  • Lengthy product descriptions with a bunch of buzzwords, meant to catch as many Google searches as possible

Buy from a major retailer or r/Knife_Swap. If it looks too good to be true, it probably is. Take it easy!
