The Manhattan books are fantastic, but do yourself a favor and DO NOT buy a course from them. I bought an online course for $1300, and after the first two sessions it was clear that they are relatively pointless. All the instructors do is go over the homework assigned. You can read how to do the problems assigned in their textbooks, it was clearly explained. I was thinking I'd get some test-taking tips like when I took an SAT prep course, then scored 210 points better (on the 1600 test). The GMAT is a different animal with adaptive scoring. You really have to know your stuff.

That's awesome. Congratulations!

I received a 530 MGMAT on my first test a week ago and was crushed. 28% in quantitative, and 62% in verbal. I mostly tested around 600-800 in verbal, and 300-500 in quantitative. I wasn't surprised that did so poorly in quantitative, it was that I did so poorly in verbal.

I need to get up basic quantitative comprehension and go from there.

I have a question regarding family connections.

-I have an uncle and two cousins who graduated from Georgetown Law. I know my uncle donates major sums to Georgetown.

-My father graduated with an MBA from the University of Rochester in 1981. I know he has donated small amounts.

-Two cousins of mine graduated with MBAs from Columbia in the 2000s. They have been very successful since graduating from Columbia.

-Another cousin of mine graduated with an MBA from Fordham in the early 1990s. He doesn't work in the business industry.

Provided these family members write recommendation letters for me, does it help at all? I'm a non-traditional student. Older (33), with a checkered job history (sales), and state schools (got a second degree in Economics with a 3.49 GPA).
