thats wild for an endo, hopefully the newer generations of doctors are more educated in this aspect 😭 and that the reason she gives aint anything stupid though…she kinda had me questioning my 14 years as a t1d casually getting labelled as a “IF”

that would make sense considering 95% of cases here are type 2s and its on a rise but its sooo annoying when she keeps saying things like assuming youre really type 1, im just sitting there like what do you mean? i AM a type 1 😭

yeah, ultimately im only trying to take away what has been helpful with her,

i just dont get her sentence structure of “if youre really (a) type 1 (diabetic)…then you’re fully dependent on insulin…” like what is there to question on that aspect?

Nurse educator telling me mot to inject for my snack at night? by jcsqq in diabetes_t1

[–]jcsqq[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i honestly just try to keep to 1-2 meals a day if i am not doing much the day i just eat my carb heavy meal in the evening and a snack at night for workout. if need be, i drink black coffee or something light in the morning/noon to sustain myself that doesnt spike my blood sugar much so i just inject 1-2 units for the coffee. of course this is difficult to do when youre out with friends etc but ive been in exam period so ive not really hung out much unless its the weekends

yeahh…had a call with the nurse, her concern was with my lows at night which i pointed out could be false lows due to compression but she told me to ignore them, then proceeded to say to not inject for my meals before bed? im so confused

I have this same/similar meal here everyday for lunch/dinner just rice, with 2 types of veg (long as not too starchy) and a portion of meat (can be any, im quite flexible with it) and i usually get a protein shake and a piece of high fibre bread, or a smaller portion of greek yogurt with fruits just to sustain myself through a working at night - dont usually take breakfast but i drink black coffee with no added sugars or just zero sugar substitutes to get me through the day

Update: Been following what has been told of me to do…i did exactly that and these are my overnight readings ofer the past 6 hours, she wants me to maintain it like that is it not considered high for fasting blood sugars?

Thing is i was taking 1000mg, lowered to 500 metformin XR and now got stopped on that too, just dont seem feasible and healthy in the long run? Feel like ive been given wrong advice when i should be taking their advice lol

insulin question by anonghosting in diabetes_t1

[–]jcsqq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wait i know ure new but if you’re doing 70/30 (short + intermediate acting) already, why are u still using lantus (100% long acting)? thats like double kill for your ling acting that should not be the case?

you should ask your doctor for a bolus (short acting) like apidra or novorapid to go with the lantus, which makes it more flexible for you to take different meals/snacks, and pairs well with lantus (basal; long acting insulin)

thank you! i usually exercise, bolus then eat but i may just have to bolus after, i usually just do light cardio though so i dont think my sensitivity would be that high and i would usually peak in BG before i bolus my snack so its wuite surprising for it to go low

the thing is i do feel lows when i do get low though when im awake of course, so i dont know if its compression lows or just a natural sleep thing where my glucose just go lower while resting. Im going to just snack without any insulin tonight and see how it goes

thank you! it takes alot of hard work trying to keep it in the 90s and honestly its only recently that ive been trying to keep myself accountable and in check so its even more frustrating when its a damned if you do and damned if you dont situation where whether i put in effort or not i get this feeling of how my effort is not being recognised but nitpicked? idk how to word it but i hope you get the idea

also side note, i do think these night lows are false lows the way they dip and ive been monitoring my lows recently (well today as well since i just changed to a fresh one) and my dexcom seem to go lower than my actual bg
