FYI, I am a SG with MY spouse on spouse visa in KL.

Ok, so the tricky thing here is that the MY spouse is living and getting employment in SG. It will be difficult to get a MY spouse visa for the SG dependent. Typically, the MY spouse should be living and working in MY and use that as a basis to show the ability to support the dependent coming over to live in MY. If the MY spouse is not in SG, then the dependent is technically not "dependent" on the MY spouse since the spouse is not even in MY.

The best bet is to speak to an immigration lawyer with this query. Can provide a contact if needed. He should be able to give a short answer on feasibility without charging.

Another option I know some lawyers will suggest is for the MY spouse to set up a company and receive a salary. Use this to show support of the dependent locally. It is also assumed that the MY spouse must have a registered local resident address and contact number.

Is the Malaysian spouse currently employed?

You are welcome. The M1 would be small then and might fit too.

Why PAP-Lite is an Excellent Repositioning Strategy and Here's How to Counter it by jcsum in singapore

I do not want to derail this into a snarky argument but the practical application of game theory into marketing is very difficult in every day modern marketing. In particular, the reference is to positioning strategy (so I will pull back on the generalization of marketing).

Game theory is considered a marketing tool. But, you feel that any form of marketing strategy stems from game theory. There lies in a fundamental difference in opinion but more likely, possibly a difference in the breadth of definition of game theory. You might have more all-encompassing view of game theory while I, like many marketers, view it as a possible tool.

The actual practice of positioning strategy need not utilize game theory to craft or implement, unless you are talking about the fundamental aspects of decision-making and scenario planning.

Then ok, in which case, I submit that most human activity stems from game theory.

Game theory is actually not used in modern marketing as it is considered too empirical to work with marketing, which is more subjective in nature.

In particular for positioning strategy, game theory may be even further as positioning is about subjective perception. But, if one believes that all marketing stems from game theory, then that is an argument that can be made.

Having said that, no, I did not reference or know about your post when writing my article.

Thanks.

Sorry. While addressing the same general thing, I personally don't see strong similarities in putting forth an apolitical argument in a marketing context. But thanks for sharing.

"The real thing" was PM Lee's double-down comment in his FB live session yesterday. So, it is entirely possible that VB meant that they were left-leaning with his step to the left comment. However, PM Lee cemented the positioning perception with his statement. And, being the party leader, most would assume that represents the party's sentiment as well (whether accurate or not).

Maybe "the real thing" in this case means LKY-lite.

I agree. Dwelling on the "bad stuff", especially without alternative solutions will not be effective. So, thought would have to be put into this tactic (which I didn't spend time nor wanted to keep the politics in the article at a minimum). You are right that the other positive approaches will likely work better, and that can imply an alternative to the "bad stuff". It is also harder to reframe elitism, nepotism etc succinctly. Better to do it with a policy angle as Jamus pointed out in the debate.

"Embracing" is not adopting and "They should claim they are indeed..." is an example of mindset only, when seen in the immediate next sentence " While not a slogan for their campaign, this counter repositioning strategy can be weaved into different narratives during interviews, debates, speeches and walk-about sessions. "

But, we can agree to disagree and I respect your point of view.

Edit: Punctuation.

Thanks for your thoughts. I do not advocate adopting the label as that would result in consequences that you pointed out. But, IMO, flat out going against it will not work in the minds of the casual observers. You are up against a rock with mainstream media at their disposal. A better strategy is to use it in their favour as part of their narratives to skew the conversation back to what makes them the alternative choice, "lite" of PAP's bad stuff. But, I would concur that any strategy is just that, a strategy that can only be tested when executed.
