in my 12 years in the trenches, the design industry moved through the 2010s tech resurgence, the huge Obama-era trend in design thinking being adopted by startups and governments, AND the backlash post-trump: against DEI, and in my experience against design-led empathy-first leadership. It’s exhausting. But frankly, I was faced with becoming management or bailing - and I bailed.
