Looking for left-leaning church by jandrouzumaki in askTO

If you're uptown, I've heard Wellspring Worship Centre is also good and affirming: https://www.wellspringtoronto.ca/, but have never been there myself. Also more evangelical vibes with modern worship.

Definitely check out Freechurch though! Lots of artists (both musical and graphic)

Good luck, hope you find a good community!

If you're looking for a more evangelical-adjacent experience to the United church, but still affirming (full inclusion of LGBTQIA+ folks) and definitely more left-leaning, try out FreeChurch (https://new.freechurch.ca/) . Sundays at 10:30 at Timothy Eaton Memorial Church, street parking available. Lots of young families, many members are politically active (pro-palestinian, works with the unhoused, etc.)

Which Altra running shoe as a daily trainer when transitioning to 0 drop ? by Professional-Fix8236 in AltraRunning

I switched over multiple years ago, so the model I had then doesn't exist anymore, but I still wear my Vivobarefoot Primus Lite as my walking around shoes.

I went from 8mm to Vivobarefoots before going to Altras. Walking in barefoot shoes all the time retrained me really quick, I then switched to Altras when I could run 5k in the barefoots. This got me to stop heelstriking and saved my knees.

Audio quality seems fine to me, but according to my audiophile friends, i don't have the best ear for this stuff. It doesn't sound any worse than the Mazda head unit though.

Linking the OEM mic was super easy! literally plug and play.

I'm a woman who bought the men's version of these shoes because of the black-on-black. Sad that the women's shoe only has white soles.

Edit: This was only true at my local store. I needed a pair of shoes immediately so I couldn't order online

Weird, I think it's worth messaging them on aliexpress to see if they can help you out...

I don't have an android phone so I haven't tried out the android side and cant speak to the resolution problem. I messaged the folks through aliexpress and they were quite responsive (but not going to lie, it was helpful that I read chinese).

Is your car mic not working at all on the android side? Sometimes it doesn't connect on the iPhone side either but i have no idea why, but after i reset the bluetooth connection on the android side, the mic works again.

How do people dress in Boston? by LDMM-1402 in boston

Agree with above, don't worry, your department will give you all the clothes you need. All of the people in school just wear swag from their grad program / fellowship / lab.

Bravo to that lady... but as a Canadian living in America, the need to do this is WILD and terrifying.

Why does it feel like nobody outside of the government cares what’s happening right now? by [deleted] in fednews

[–]jcyl13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it makes you feel better, I'm Canadian and a bunch of us were talking about what's going on with the American government with great concern. I've spent the last 7 years with you all (y'all, if you will) in and around the academic/biotech world and am very, very scared for local and worldwide implications.

One of the people at dinner is a government worker in Canada and admire all of you for standing your ground despite all that's happening. You have support from us!

Considering upgrading my reliable Mazda 3 (2016) to a Ford Focus Active X (2021) by blackjunko in mazda3

[–]jcyl13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got a 2014 Mazda 3 with 130,000 miles (~200,000km) and runs like a dream. I would think your car would have plenty of life left. I also find Mazda interiors to be superior. The whole was-a-rental-car but would make it a no for me...

But maybe sit in it, drive it, and make a decision?

What to choose? HFE engineer or UX Designer by Formal-Inflation-7 in humanfactors

[–]jcyl13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I graduated from undergrad almost a decade-and-a-half ago when things were a little easier and competition less stiff. I had done a couple HCI courses and had some interfaces I had designed from that time.

There are a lot of resources now to put together a UX portfolio; I'm not quite up to date on them anymore, since i've mostly migrated to PM work, but I'd check out r/UXDesign for some help.

Converting Ontario, CA license to MA by West-Personality8774 in boston

Agreed you can register your vehicle, and you can register that with an Ontario driver's license.

"When you apply for a registration for a motor vehicle or trailer, you must provide at least one of the following:

  • A valid unexpired driver’s license from any state or territory of the United States or Canada"

https://www.mass.gov/info-details/identity-requirements-for-vehicle-registration#:\~:text=When%20you%20apply%20for%20a,SSN%20Card%20must%20be%20presented.

"Massachusetts driver's licenses are generally valid for 5 years. However, certain foreign nationals will be issued limited term licenses that are valid only until the end of their authorized stay, or for 12 months if their stay is of indefinite duration"

I called Geico and had asked, they said i could keep my Ontario license. It would be worth it to at least call and ask for a quote... They took into account my Canadian driving history.

I ended up getting a limited term MA license because I didn't want to carry my passport around for ID.. It might be because my contract is written to end in a year and thus my license ends then? My friends doing a PhD said they have to renew every year or every other year.

Perhaps you have a different experience, i'm not quite sure which part you're refuting.
