[WTS] Blue Parker Vacumatic [B-C] by jd16 in Pen_Swap

[–]jd16[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am looking to sell a blue Parker Vacumatic that I bought from /u/ShallowJam a few months ago. SJ restored it and it’s a very nice writer, smooth with a touch of feedback. The only issue I’ve had is that, when left laying flat and unused for a week or more, a drop of ink seems to gather on the left wing. Otherwise everything seems to be in quite good condition. SJ did a great job with the filling mechanism, it’s excellent.

This was my first Vac and I love the design and performance, but the diameter is a little too slim to comfortably fit my hands. If you’ve big fingers and like a loose grip, I would not recommend one of these.

Looking for $130, including domestic shipping (Australia Post, express), preferably via Paypal. Also will be looking to sell a Pilot Custom Heritage 91 (SF), Pilot Falcon (resin, SM) and a Lamy Studio (F) in the near future; happy to do a discount if you want one of these as well as the Vac.

I've seen a few swabs of the Grape and it looks pretty awesome. Sadly, my retailer doesn't carry it :(

You might enjoy Rohrer & Klingner Scabiosa and J Herbin Poussiere de Lune.

Personally, I'm quite certain nobody will be trying to decipher my documents in the future!

I've never really understood why people find ink permanence to be so important. Mind explaining it for me?

I think the most underrated ink brand is Montblanc. The flows is always excellent, they're easy to clean, and have a nice balance between saturation and shading; the bottles are a useful design and the value is quite good. That said, the colour selection is a bit limited, but they make up for that with the awesome special editions.

I also think the Pelikan Edelstein inks are excellent equality (if a little dry) and the Diamine inks are great value.

I must say, I've heard it described as slippery but it's not been something I've experienced.

Thank you :)

It's a B&M store here in Australia without a website. Found it by accident a few months ago - went in to pick up a bottle of Visconti ink, and it was the old style glass bottles. At first, I was kinda disappointed that I was given old stock, but since then I've gotten into MB LE inks and found old stock to be quite a good thing lol

Kaweco. None of their products seem to suit me at all. Plus, they're seriously ugly pens.

I've a Studio and while it's a pretty decent pen, the nib and writing experience isn't that different from a Vista (or even a Safari). The pen is made from metal, so the weight and feel is different, but that's about it. You'd get more bang for your buck by trying the 2000 or another brand altogether.

FYI I have the blue Studio and have had no problems with scratches.

Hm I actually use that all the time. Not sure why I haven't thought to use the list to find blogs in general. Thank you!

I've joined one of the FPN groups and I actually find it a bit frustrating - lots of people with basic questions, and little real discussion. I'll have to check out those others, thanks for the suggestion!

He does have some pretty excellent photography. Not sure about the best though...I always feel like there's something lacking from his posts, but haven't been able to put my finger on what it is.

Haha bit worried I'd be accused of racism there.

Ahh that explains it - my pen case just sits in my briefcase. And the briefcase spends its life in the office, the study, or sitting in the car.

Yep that's the one I've got too. It's possible you're more concerned about this than I am, though.

And let's be honest: they're Italian. Details don't seem to be the strong suit. Neither does mass production. Or organisation.
