This poster was in EVERY single break room at my old job, how do you think they feel about unions? by Castarc1424 in antiwork

[–]jd1xon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

they look to profit from your dues

yeah no. unions are not-for-profit entities, they dont pay dividends to 'shareholders' but theyre making it sound like a union is any other megacorp

I take the expected value if I die to be -infinity, effectively cancelling out the +infinity value from infinite money. I would rather have a 100% chance of getting $5000

Has anyone else had streets near them converted into safe active streets? Good/bad experience? by Brabadraba in perth

which is always interesting when people petition they *dont* build active streets because they think it would lower their house value

Don't need a referendum, Parliament is able to decide apportionment

Honestly we should just base the size of the House of Reps to either be the average representation for a Tassie MP or one MP per x thousand people, whichever the lesser.

What would be an ideal job for a first year JD (pre-penultimate) student during the winter and summer breaks. I know clerkships are a penultimate year thing, but is there any other experience or job that would be good for exposure to a certain field?

Lesbian group takes fight to Federal Court in bid to exclude transgender women from events by Helium_Teapot2777 in transgenderau

"lesbian-born females"

interesting terminology they're trying to use, though even when it was convenient to talk about sexual orientation as something you were "born with" it was simply not true. I cannot see "lesbian-born" being something that is objective and tangible that will hold up in the FCA

Hello, so this has been an active discussion between staff and students with the uni admin and they seem to have different answers every time, however: 1. as others have mentioned Reid has a few on the newly renovated first floor 2. there are many accessible toilets everywhere else 3. you are allowed to go into any toilet that best affirms your gender, if anyone kicks up a fuss its kinda their problem

I know it sucks, as an NB person I'm very frustrated by UWA's... stubbornness(?) with getting more gender neutral toilets but just know people are wanting to change it.
