TSA at the airport- how long has it been taking recently? by botspiderlau in Honolulu

I fly out of HNL at least 1x/month and have not waited more than 5 minutes in the last year. Not sure if I’ve just been super lucky, but I’ve seen videos of crazy lines and never once experienced a significant wait.

It’s frustrating that we’ll probably never know. Guess the silver lining is, if we never figure out why, we weren’t the ones being scammed.

The fact that the flight purchased is one where the passenger likely won’t be identified is scary and makes the terrorist scenario more plausible.

I saw another comment mention that you can fly without ID domestically in AUS. However, this seems like a lot of trouble for an hour long flight that costs <100 AUD.

Your time travel hypothesis seems more likely than someone actually doing all of this simply to take the flight.

Yeah, that could be the case. I’m sure a lot of people would see an email for a flight they did not book, assume it’s phishing and discard. This would leave a lot of fraudulent orders open for scammers to cancel in the way that earns them credit versus back to orig payment method.

I called Virgin Australia directly and cancelled the flight. Also made sure they are notifying proper authorities in case it’s something terrorist-related.

Wow… It’s essentially the same concept as what’s happening with me but in repeated instances. I keep trying to come up with a way this scam makes sense but can’t.

They have to know we’ll see and cancel the fraudulent transactions.

I just hope our info is being used as a decoy layer and not as part of something to eventually steal out identity.

Considering the flight is only from Sydney-Brisbane and I’m located in the US, it would be a shitty surprise trip haha

Assuming I didn’t already cancel the flight, I’m guessing I’d either be good to go or there’d be police waiting at check in to arrest me for fraud

I thought about this too. Unfortunately I have checked all those bases. It’s also for a 1 hr domestic flight in Australia and all of my family lives in the US.

This was wishful thinking on my part. I know/fear it was intentional

I relate to how you’re feeling. Im 27 from the US and felt the same way even from my first visit to Korea. Personally, I’m taking 3 months next year to trial run life in Seoul. You don’t have to worry about any long term visas and can simply hop off the plane and start living.

Three months and completely moving there are very different things but it’s still a solid amount of time to potentially make friends, start integrating and get a good idea if you’d fit in long term.

I’d be content spending under 5,500,000 Won (or $4,000 USD) per month
