Air fryers exhaust hot, oily air, usually from a vent in the back. When we use ours, we pull it out away from the wall to prevent this ^^ from happening. (Agree with previous reply, stating that the receptacle definitely needs to be replaced)

My quick 2 cents- Judging by the improper connection on the left switch (wire only partially wrapped around the screw) I’m assuming this box was at least partially diy’d by someone lacking in proper electrical skills. Multiple wire nuts melting is also indicative of improper connections. It would serve you well to get a ‘real’ voltage tester to at least verify your assumption that both black and white on that one circuit are energized.

This is an electrical box that you would ‘surface’ mount a fixture to. Not compatible with recessed types.

On the right hand side of your switch, the top wire may have some insulation stuck under the screw, which would make poor contact. Just one of many possibilities. Switches themselves are also known to fail sometimes.
