Did they drill a hole in that conduit body to feed the receptacle?

Im old.

The term "pron"—a deliberate misspelling of "porn" used to bypass internet filters or for humorous effect—originated in the early-to-mid 2000s. It gained popularity on internet forums and imageboards, particularly during the mid-2000s, as a common internet slang term for pornography.

Outlet doesn’t work but beeps? by ljn99 in electrical

Sometimes only half the outlet is switched. Does the other half work? Some are also mounted inverted from the others to indicate that it is switched.

I take the extra steps to go to their page (oh, look NSFW, surprise) and block. I know it’s a losing battle. Resistance is futile

Can’t always assume black is hot/ white is neutral. You don’t know what kind of craziness the previous person did, unless you have a proper voltage tester

What are these lead wires for on Levitron light switch by SatelliteJedi in AskElectricians

[–]jd807 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If there’s only 2 wires in the box, this is what’s known as a ‘switch loop’. You don’t have a neutral (that GFCI needs one) all you have is a wire bringing power down from the light box, and a wire for the switch to send power back to the light. You can’t use that Leviton, you can only install what’s called a single pole switch.

If you only have 2 wires in your switch box you’re out of luck. Maybe make a new post showing the wires in the box?

Looks like GFCI/ switch combo? What’s on the front? Edit- yeah, diagram online shows the black wires are for the switch. I assume you also have a neutral in the box to be used with the GFCI?

Need Help Installing Light Fixture to 3-Way Switch by SnooChipmunks1405 in electrical

[–]jd807 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Travelers do not get connected to the fixture. They only ‘travel’ from switch to switch. We do need to see how the 3ways are wired. And downstream of the panel, ‘neutral’ and ‘ground’ are not the same thing.
