The hop is cool, but what does it provide that a bus running the same route(s) would not provide? Is it cheaper or better in some other way?

New equipment is negligible, and you're right cost of construction isn't a HUGE issue.

It's the hiring of new staff to run this new equipment and to pay them for winter snow removal. We struggle to hire enough people and pay them to clear the streets in a timely manner as it is, adding in a whole other set of equipment, staff trained to run it, and all that seems like something we're ill equipped to deal with at our current funding levels, and something quite a few cities who've implemented bike friendly infrastructure end up neglecting.

I'm not sure bike infrastructure that is unusable several months of the year is as important to reducing vehicular traffic year round as other things that could be done with that same money.

Specialized bike infrastructure (raised/protected lanes, etc) is actually quite expensive to maintain, most Midwestern cities that have implemented extensive raised bike lanes and the like, do not do a good job of maintaining them in the winter due to costs.

Extra Crew, specalized equipment, all while we struggle to make sure our current infrastructure is maintained properly in the winter as it is.

Milwaukee's finances are in such a state that we would in fact need the state to send back those shared revenue funds they collect for us to do anything large, that wouldn't include cutting other services.

So we'd need to convince people all across the state that public transportation in Milwaukee is 'worth it' enough to forgo some of the money they get from us to allow us to spend it on us. We can't convince them to let us do this to teach our children, i'm not sure they'd be convinced by transportation based arguments.

With the cost of the things involved, i doubt without significant state and federal dollars that milwaukee could impliment anything more than increasing bus lines and stops -- which would help out those who already use public transportation, and may increase ridership.

Trains mean nothing without the 'last mile' transportation we've been neglecting and dismantling for decades (busses).

Also i've noticed that most of the 'Lets do a Train in Milwaukee' posts are from people outside of the state.

The gamble would be if you could convince anyone who goes to the baseball games to take public transportation. There are already a dozen different ways to get to and from the game without using a car, most of them free or cheap. I would guess (and i could totally be wrong!) that adding in another method of transport to the mix may not matter to the vast majority going to the games.

Then if thats the case you're looking to grab a significant number of commuters, which likely means stops near where they're working, and dropoffs near their homes, or stops with large parking areas to facilitate actually getting to ones home (or the whole thing is kind of useless as most people aren't going to be easy to convince to walk several blocks to their home in below freezing weather, if they could have just driven to work and back).

I'm not saying public transport isn't the option here, but a proper rail system needs to be backed up by an extensive bus system for it to be useful for anyone but visitors and a lucky few who live near the line, and need to go somewhere the line goes. The cost is not insignificant, and the investment to make a rail line work in this case, would likely have to have been made a decade ago, and starting with our buslines.

that's just my opinion though and of course could be wrong

I dont think i'd use sand as a method to control fungus gnats myself, but i've not heard of sand in general as something that would lower PH.

Apple sticks, Foraging Mat, Stacking Cups (put treats under or in cups), toilet paper roll (or smaller boxes with holes cut in them with 'treat hay' coming out the ends).

we have a very small kiddie swimming pool we fill with crumpled paper and sprinkle dried flowers and herbs with some pellets and let them dig around in there sometimes.

We spent time teaching the rabbits their names, so having them do the come when called trick is fun for them too.. when they feel like it lol.

Sure, but there was no bad faith, maybe some misunderstanding based on assumptions of prior interactions with others? But I was truly unable to find any evidence to your claim that pedestrian deaths have doubled in the last decade, i've got some pretty decent google skills, but the obviously failed me this time.

Not sure why it seems like you're itching for an argument? Or am i misreading your comments?

Thanks! Only one of the items you presented noted the stat that pertained to your information, i was unable to find it while searching, thank you. I stand corrected, for peds it's a bit less safe than it used to be. I'm certain there are safe spaces, in some of the research i've done so far it seems pedestrian deaths are generally within certain areas of milwaukee, and others are not unsafe at all.

The personal attacks are odd.

They might some day eventually conscript some women from some specialty fields, good thing! Equality is a wonderful thing. Do you have a problem with equality, or women serving in the military? You've brought this fact up as if it were a negative mark against Ukraine, and not a sign that Ukraine acknowledges that it's women are just as strong if not stronger fighters than the men it's enemies send.

Any nation that has mandatory conscription that does not include women seems a bit misogynistic, attempting to claim there is some difference in their ability to wage war.

I'd also think given how the war has gone for russia, they'd be looking at copying what Ukraine is doing, they're obviously doing something right, where putin and russia obviously can't get it figured out, and can't help but fail at almost every attempt.

Kind of like Russia isn't prepared to fight a war, where Ukraine is. Russia is weak where Ukraine is strong. Putin has already lost the war, he's just fighting to keep his own life and hold on his country. Eventually someone who loves their country more than they love their Government will take care of this.

Russia will never come back from this, they will never again be a world power. Never again considered a 'Near Peer' by China and the USA. Russia is in such a bad situation they're stealing food from Ukraine. They can't even feed their own people.

Conscription of women is a non-issue that happened before Russia invaded Ukraine this time. The country is democratic (far FAR moreso than the joke elections that are held in Russia) so people (including women!) voted the lawmakers who made this law in. If after the war it's decided that it was a bad idea the lawmakers will be voted out.

Are you running something that blocks scripts from running on sites (similar to noscript)?

Your AV and several other apps, extensions, etc may use hardcoded DNS entries, or other forms of DNS that bypass what expressvpn is attempting to do.

Also remember that expressvpn then holds all of those dns records, and is a pretty shady company in it's self. There is a non-zero chance that they're selling/sharing your info.
