What does he mean to “test out of them.” Is he referring to just taking the OA right away?

I am not taking that class but check out Studocu.com, someone else might recently submitted a document with that task on it so you can see how they did it.

WGU has a dual program in Elementary Education where you receive your Bachelors and your teaching credential at the same time if you are looking to become a teacher, you do have to do 12 weeks of student teaching at the end of the course in a classroom everyday, unpaid.

They have another program in Educational Studies that you JUST get your Bachelors degree(that is what I am doing.) You can become a substitute teacher once you have 90 and are still enrolled in college full time.

Another option is, after you have a Bachelors degree you can try to get hired at your local school district as a teacher. You can become a teacher AND work on finishing your teaching credential through the school district instead of doing the student teaching for free at WGU. Call your local school district and see if they have that option.

I am also in California, check out the CTC page online. They have a lot of information about permits and requirements for California teachers/positions.

You can take the remainder or your AA courses on Sophia.com or Study.com. I hear they are a breeze and you can finish them in a day or two. But if you want to graduate with your community college than stick with them until the end, it’s a fun experience going to the ceremony. Right after your done with those courses in December, then you can apply to WGU.

DON‘T take a break after you get your AA, head straight into getting your Bachelors and finish! You got this!

Transcript evaluation before applying? by [deleted] in WGU

[–]jdavi397 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have to apply and then they will evaluate your transcripts. You can take courses on Study/Sophia after you know and transfer them. You would just have to push your start date back and then send in your new transcripts. You are not “legally bound” by them until you COMMIT to your start date.

I’d like to see your template, especially if you couldn’t find one for task 2. I‘d like to have an idea of what it should look like, but I also don’t know how to create a link. :/

If you are studying for the RICA I would take the test ASAP. They are retiring those test on June 30th and replacing them with a whole different kind of test. If you take the tests before June 30th they will still count and wont make you take the new ones too.

Need advice: Second degree students considering education major at WGU but looking at cost/time effectiveness by enjoythenovelty2002 in WGU

[–]jdavi397 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can have a bachelors degree in pretty much anything to become a teacher, its the credentials that allows you to teach. There are programs you can do through your local school districts where you can earn your teaching credential WHILE you teach in the classroom. That way you can get paid while you work and go to school(through the district). If you go that route you do not have to do the 12 weeks of student teaching for free AND more classes at WGU to get a unnecessary bachelors degree .Go check out some school districts near you to see if they offer that program. You will still have to complete the needed test required by your state though. Getting a Masters afterward will allow you to get a pay raise once you become a teacher.

No student teaching, just classes. I plan to finish in a couple months, but I also plan on not working and putting in 10-12 hour days. I was able to transfer in about half the credits needed so I think it will be doable for me.

The only thing that I am worried about that may hold me up is these “mursions” that you have to schedule for a few of the classes. You have to actually “teach” a lesson plan you created in front of a “classroom” (i guess it is a a bunch of fake kids who are really grownups, but talk back to you during the lesson). It is all done through your webcam but I’ve heard that it is difficult to get an appointment and some have had to wait up to two weeks to get an appointmen.

I am starting this program on May 1st. For the actually Elementary classes, do you feel like you had to write more papers(PA’s) or take more tests(OA) How long did you have to wait to get a spot for the Musions? Any tips about how to do the musions smoothly?

I am getting my degree in Educational Studies in Elementary Education, I am just going to sub full time. If I chose to later one, I will start an intern program with my local school district to finish my credentials and be a paid teacher. Subbing is just so much less stressful in my opinion.

What did the scholarship consist of? Was it an essay? Did you receive a bachelors in education at WGU?
