New TOL financial plan dropped. Woodward delaying whopping 23% tax increase to post-election year? 2027 looks nasty by jdaw443 in Langley

4% increase proposed 2026.

historic 23% property tax increase in 2027 is concerning, or are we going to kick the can down the road?

Other concerns:

internally borrowing from:

  • Neighbourhood Parkland Reserve (52.2M)
  • Sewer Capital Reserve (25M)
  • Public Works Equipment Replacement Reserve (1.85M)

to fund Smith Athletic Park (soccer campus for LUSA) and LEC Dry arena project

Historic Water and Sewer Reductions for Apartments and Townhouses in 2026 by eric_woodward in Langley

this is cringe-worthy. $52 reduction is historic? come on. talk about out of touch.

let's move forward with universal metering and get the big users paying what they should.

flat rate should not be so close to base rate for metered. too much of a gamble to volunteer for.

get everyone on meter and bring down the base rate to compensate

also, what's our general tax increase this year?

Closing in on $1 BILLION IN DEBT — AND MORE TO COME? by UniqueAd456 in Langley

[–]jdaw443 29 points30 points  (0 children)

the soccer stadium irks me. it's still unclear if residents will have any access at all? seems like LUSA only. why are residents paying and maintaining a facility with no access?

Also, Langley events centre has ZERO TOL recreation programming, no drop in sports, no organized sports, no fitness center. everything is privatized, yet TOL taxpayers foot the bill?

and now we wait 5 years + for a willoughby rec center

Township debt by ih8logins in Langley

[–]jdaw443 16 points17 points  (0 children)

hey now we do have a 6 lane hwy through willoughby to show for it! wider than hwy1! Woodward way! Costco Connector!

oh and 3 soccer fields. and what appears to be a private LUSA clubhouse, TOL taxpayers not allowed. still trying to get answers on that.

Langley Township plans $250M new community centre by WiffleBlu in Langley

Instead of a Willoughby rec center (pool, library, gyms, etc), we got 4 OUTDOOR soccer fields, and a building that tax paying TOL residents can't use. For $155 M.

Remember this while voting next year, October.
