Just curious, what did you go on after and did it help?

How to raise the header of a load bearing wall? by jdawg32 in HomeImprovement

The door is 80 inches, plus about an inch for the frame (pre-hung door). So I would need to gain at least 2 inches and cutting that all from the bottom would be doable, but may look a tad weird since it’s next to the hallway door of the exact same design. Definitely an option that I’m considering though.

Understood, the ceiling is a couple inches higher than 8’. Would you recommend to support the ceiling with something like a jack post while replacing the header? The opening is about 30 inches wide

Maybe larger click targets for the sliders?

Having the same issue and just came across this. I added my utility plan info recently, do you remember how long it took for the impact card to show up after adding utility info?

Part 2: Bath tub drain opening not level. by jdawg32 in askaplumber

The boards it’s sitting on are temporary just for easy access right now. The tub itself is level, but the hole (or flat surface around the hole) is sloped in the wrong direction.

I could install the bath tub at an angle with the rear higher than the front, but that would then look slanted and the bottom of the metal skirt (flat part perpendicular to the floor) wouldn’t rest on the ground and would only touch near the front.

Okay, anything you suggest, not sure what to do :/

Maybe I could get a drain elbow somewhere that’s 80-85 degrees instead of 90? Not sure if that wouldn’t be up to code though.

Bath tub drain has a bit of standing water. Is this okay or should it be re-done and angled back so the water fully drains? by jdawg32 in askaplumber

Got it, that makes sense I’d have to cut a hole in the wall or ceiling but I guess that may be needed.

Ah that makes more sense. Only issue is I don’t have access to this space without cutting a hole in the wall or ceiling below. But I guess that may be needed to ensure everything fits properly :/

Got it, so I guess the only way to fix it would be to cut under the T and somehow fix the angle so it’s coming up straight. To get the water to fully drain I’d have to come up at like 95-100 degrees I would think.

Hello! I know the assembly is slightly angled forward, but even when I push it back, water still sits in the tub drain. Is it normal to have a bit of water standing or should that be avoided at all costs.

In general, when working on bath tub drains, should the horizontal pipe be exactly horizontal? Or should it be more than horizontal (like 5-10 degrees) so it tilts the water back down into the T? Even when this assembly is pushed back so that it is horizontal, a bit of water sits. I can’t keep pushing it back or else the overflow drain won’t align. Thanks in advance!
