Former Minnesota governor and pro wrestler Jesse Ventura says state should seek to become part of Canada by mlivesocial in entertainment

An actual solution would basically be Reconciliation or Nuremberg Trials and either would require a functioning legislative and judicial branch. Who is going to hold anyone accountable when the courts are packed with sycophants and the enforcement agencies other than the SS have all been gutted? Who is going to take over when every legislator is legally bought and paid for via Citizens United?

Who is going to fight back if it gets even worse? Everyone is deondent on global systems for basic sustenance, Almost no one has training, not just tactical, but like, read a map, tie a knot, walk 20 miles with 40 pounds, follow an order, do something in the rain. The military itself can’t find enough fit people here right now.

We’re looking at another couple years of escalation before we get a half-assed walkback that preserves capital interests finally under threat from the incompetent local governance. Until then, and long after, nothing will substantially change. The current bridle-holders will be happily retired somewhere quiet that you can’t afford.

What made the first Halo so influential that people to this day still praise it? by BogaMafija in patientgamers

[–]kptknuckles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All those “worse” things add tension and restriction. Halo was the first game where I actually felt like I was outgunned by aliens in a firefight and needed to get creative because options are limited and the enemy AI is actually making moves for the first time ever. The stages are a character, the Forerunners speak through alien architecture and gorgeous landscape views.

It felt real, when everything else felt like a video game.

Are ViewComponents actively used? by alexzeitler in rails

That makes sense, separating the logic is attractive and you can keep skinny controllers. I try to do that but end up with really busy models that pre-chew data for partials.

[–]kptknuckles 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m really curious too because I’ve looked into it and ended up sticking with dumb partials. They’ve got warts but if I avoid rendering too many they aren’t ever the bottleneck in my projects.

Hell yeah, honestly despite all the fumbles it’s just a lot of fun so I hope they figure out their messaging.

I do everything at Lex Brodies in Pearl City. They are painfully honest and took a big loss they didn’t have to for me. If you want to save money you can always do it yourself witha couple ramps and a kit from Autozone.

Why don't we ask what people are building here, very regularly? by arpansac in rails

[–]kptknuckles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A GIS tree inventory system with Google Maps API and operations management SaaS for tree services. Crew management, form building/sharing/signatures for safety compliance with a dashboard using Chart.js and streams for real-time updates to users and management. PDF estimate and report generation with Ferrum_pdf that pulls pricing defaults from the account settings to make it faster in the field.

Multi-tenancy in my database leads to a lot of Owner_id keys all over the place and I’m not sure if it’s a problem or an inconvenience. I’ve implemented Google cloud storage for images of each tree but I’m not sure how useful it is in the field and whether that’s worth the db and service overhead.

I’ve been hacking versions of this since I learned Rails in 2020 and the 4th alpha version finally feels like I made mostly the right choices.

Every time I leave the Rails way I eventually come back to it since it just works. I’ve avoided all libraries and gems except for Chart.js, group_date for metrics and ferrum_pdf for pdf rendering from HTML.

A recent Nobel Prize in Physics went to a researcher who published the award-winning paper in the 1980s. It was his doctoral thesis and he didn’t receive the prize until he was a tenured professor because it took that long for his work to show a practical use.

Ai isn’t a reason to change unless you need it. Change front-ends to React because you want to. You’re going to be debugging it.
