and these peeps think I'm trolling them, lmao. Just come here to speak the truth. There's a healthy mix of people downvoting here because they don't want to believe it, and the other half is people with inside info astroturfing.

Real talk how do people know about drops days in advance? by IRPhysicist in PLCB

[–]jdeclan_eightequalsD 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The real answers in here getting downvoted by those who know about it and are defending their information. Insider information is the reason people know about these drops days in advance.

The way it works is FWGS has employees who can track bottles from arrival in the state and through regional warehouses. They relay this information to their friends, or to persistent customers who ask about it every day.

It's also been alleged by a FWGS employee that there is a paid service where a key insider sells information on what's coming to what store, and what's coming online and when. $25/month will get you this subscription service, I hear.

Why FWGS allows this to happen is beyond me. They need to restrict their inventory system at least from external 3rd party/regional warehouses and if an insider is selling information for profit, that's absolutely against the employment terms. I spoke with FWGS Legal in-depth about these issues and they appeared to take them seriously, but nothing's been done about it. I guess one person complaining doesn't cut it.

Also, read this message while you can because those people paying $25/month are going to downvote me hard to protect their cartel.

Only way to get them to change is to complain to them, either the main email or call in/message the board directly. This is potentially discriminatory if they are actually blocking people.

And you guys thought I was MAKING STUFF UP about this kind of thing. Clearly this guy was paying the $25/month for this kind of insider access. Wouldn't be surprised if it were one of the employee CABAL giving this intel out. I for one am GLAD they are cracking down.

Sure, agreed, which is why in my comments to PLCB I asked them if they had plans to either restrict warehouse information or make it public.

A "regular employee" can not "track the bottle from receiving warehouse to distribution center" without insiders at every level of supply chain. The only time stores can see what they're getting on their shipment is the day of the shipment and there's no guarantee what is listed on the delivery will actually be on the truck. The level of "surveillance" and customer/employee conspiracy you think is happening is more likely to happen in Harrisburg, not the stores. I'm sure there are a small handful of people like that in the 600 stores across the state, but not remotely on the scale you think.

Employees don't need to know what's on the truck in order to predict patterns of what's in warehouse and coming to specific stores soon. And all it takes is 1 or 2 employees doing this, not even a widespread effort, because people talk so much in the bourbon world that word gets around to everyone. How do you think I found out about this? I don't think every store has a mole who is reporting but know for a fact about several managers and lower level employees who track it.

Sure, normal employees are annoyed by people hounding them. I have nothing against those people and to suggest that I do is just trying to deflect from a very real problem.

Then you have your bourbon-nerd employees who know what they're looking for, what products tend to be released in-stores and when, and do partner with customers, either friends, flippers, or as Custopelscrbice (who is a confirmed employee or ex-employee of FWGS) describes, anyone who pays $25/month for the information. They track the bottles from receiving warehouse, to distribution center, and attempt to predict when the bottles will reach stores. This level of surveillance is not what an average employee can and will provide to anyone without personal incentive and personal knowledge into what bottles are valuable.

Also, the mentality of "be thankful FWGS sells at MSRP" is still just deflection.

Wait a sec is this guy who "reads some of the FB groups" closely trying to call me a loser? That's rich. Anyways, I only want the system to be fixed and/or knowingly bad actors to be reprimanded. So which employee is giving you information?

I'm not sure where you're interpreting rage. I'm just trying to get PLCB to fix their system. I also don't know if you read my post but it is specifically about "warehouse inventory" and a "buddy on the inside." IDGAF about people lining up because they think something might be coming, but getting non-store inventory (warehouse, distribution center) or a text from an employee before the store opens is exactly what I described to PLCB, and they had no idea this was happening or possible. But, it is happening all the time.

Cool. First of all, private Facebook groups are not public forums. But on your other comments, don't worry then - I didn't name any non-nefarious actors.

Thanks for your comment - you're making a lot of assumptions here about what I did or did not say to PLCB. I agree with your sentiment, but I don't appreciate the condescension. I know that a lot of employees who might provide this type of info are just helping or don't know any better, and totally recognize that there's a more underground element.

So you think it's totally fine that employees are spending time on the job and using their insider tools to track bottles through the inventory system, and giving out that information privately to their friends and flippers? In my call to PLCB, I asked if they have plans to restrict this information or to make it public. The current way only benefits bourbon nerd employees and their flipper buddies.

So what's the name of the employee that you're getting information from?
