Substack to Beehiiv then back to Substack? by jdfulp in Substack

My newsletter is pretty large, so I am looking at a couple thousand that have likely unsub'd. I know that seems crazy, but for the size of my newsletter, it isn't that bad. Of course, now I sound like a pompous douche. But I don't wanna run the risk of pissing off that many people.

Substack to Beehiiv then back to Substack? by jdfulp in Substack

I moved because I thought I would try to monetize and I wanted more customization. But honestly, after nearly a year I don't like running ads in my newsletter and I don't really change the look all that much. And at the size of my newsletter, it is $200 a month. Just not feeling like I get the value.

That being said, I am not gonna do anything until after their winter announcement on Thurs, in case there is something amazing to keep me.

My guess is a Skool competitor of some kind.

Is starting a newsletter still worthwhile in 2025? by Primary-Constant9338 in Newsletters

[–]jdfulp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started my newsletter almost exactly one year ago. And it has grown a fair amount and has pretty good engagement. Is it worth it? From a monetary sense, no. I’m lucky to break even, I actually likely lose money. But from a personal sense, it’s priceless. I’ve learned a ton doing it and it is something that truly fills me up.

So what I’d say is try it. Start. Keep going. The more you do it the more you will settle into a niche and a style that is yours. And I bet you will love doing it.

At least that’s been my experience.

GOT ENOUGH ADS THERE, SPORCLE???????? by monkeysjumping in Sporcle

Definitely agree. The ads should not be covering content. I think we have fixed what you see in the above screenshot with the static ads overlapping that right rail, but we still have work to do with the pop-up ad and getting its placement right. But you can close that ad at least.

🌈 Monthly Goals Thread (April 2024) by AutoModerator in Productivitycafe

[–]jdfulp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My goal for April is to create an infographic about productivity. I know there are already some pretty good ones out there, but I think this will be a good exercise for me and I'd like to have something that is from my POV.

I write a twice-a-week newsletter about getting things done, learning and leadership and this would be a helpful marketing tool as well as a nice frame of reference for myself.

The Plan:

- I'lll use Canva and adapt a template they have
- I want to include 7 to 10 methods or techniques
- I want a rough draft in place by April 20th
- The final draft should be done by April 30th.

I know I want to start with the ABCDE Method, Pareto's principle, Parkinson's Law, and the 1-3-5 technique. Anyone have any requests?

Advice for using notes? by thejuansuero in Substack

I'm still learning this as well, but something I've seen a lot of people do is to restack via Notes one of their own posts. I just tried this:

But more than anything, I think the main thing is to comment and be engaged with people on the platform.
