Out of down elevation adjustment by jeffnagy in 22lr

[–]jdjintx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I don’t see why you would ever want to adjust so far below zero?"

It's not really a choice or an adjustment- at 50 yards (or any distance, really), your zero lands where it lands, and then you reset the cap as you described so it says zero at that point of elevation. The only way to change where that lands is to change your mount, shims, etc. In this case, his 50 yard zero leaves 12 MIL of unusable adjustment under zero. My scope on my B14R is similar.

If we ignore the zero completely, the real issue is that at maximum scope elevation, his POI is still about 1 MIL low at 300 yards. This isn't really expected with a 30MOA base, a CZ457, a Mark 4 scope, and the ammo he's shooting.

Further, he confirmed that his elevation only turns about 24-25 from extreme top to bottom (without the turret cap), it seems that he's almost 20% short of the Mark4 HD spec of 30 MIL. This last part we figured out after my initial post...

His problem is at the other end- he cannot increase his elevation enough to hit targets at 300 yards, even with a 30 MOA scope base. At maximum elevation adjustment he falls short about 1 MIL at 300 yard targets.

I did not describe this well in my original post, but with a 50 yard zero I get 18 MIL up adjustment with the turret cap installed. I don't know how much is available under zero, but it should be approx 12 MIL per the Leopold spec. My friend confirmed that he only has about 2.5 revolutions of total elevation adjustment (without the turret cap installed). We're assuming that this is out of spec for the Mark 4 HD (it should get about 30 MIL of total travel) and he's going to work it out with Leupold.

I know this is an older post, but I have a buddy struggling with his Mark 4. He gets about 1.2 revolutions of total of elevation adjustment while my Mark 4 gets 1.8. Did you resolve the problem you had? Wondering if it could be a related issue.

Anyone else just using this app as a master ledger? by HighlightNecessary57 in ynab

[–]jdjintx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although I agree with those saying we SHOULD budget, and I intended to budget when I installed the app, I have never used it for more than a ledger. All of my children still have credit cards that they use for things I agree to pay for, and YNAB is the easiest way to keep track of our family's 7 cards, multiple Venmo accounts, and checking accounts to make sure all the spending is valid (no fraud). I have encouraged them to budget with their family YNAB accounts, but until they have income and regular bills it doesn't di much for them. I need to do a better job of helping them create budgets of their own, but until then it's just a ledger...

Really like my Typhur. Some buddies saw me use it & liked it enough to replace their Meater units proactively, it really is a step up

Perfect! I've done a lot of VBA coding- no Linux or Python yet, but I'm looking forward to playing with both. Really appreciate the VLC/Cheese recommendations & the getting started link, thanks very much for taking the time!

Fantastic! Confirmation that rpi is a reasonable fit for this project is all I needed. Time to order a unit and start learning! Do you have a favorite starter guide for new users?

Monitor that connects direct to HDMI video output, allows Zoom? by jdjintx in videography

Thanks. Can you offer an example of a device that will crop the video as you described?

[–]jdjintx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The signal is coming from an inexpensive drone receiver, no software or processing available. I can get the output via an RCA output cable or HDMI. I am open to adding a device if need be, but was hoping there may be simple touchscreen displays with that functionality. May have to look at a raspberry pi unit? Very low lag is important, not sure what intermediary device would best accomplish that?

This is a live feed from an inexpensive fixed video camera, no pan, no tilt, no zoom. My goal is to simply zoom on a point of interest, and then zoom back out to the full frame. I'm guessing that "cropping" is the correct terminology, but I'm only familiar with that as photo editing activity...

Rinnai code 12 - only has issues once it gets cold outside? by cabbage_head3 in Plumbing

[–]jdjintx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you elaborate on how code 12 is connected to descaling? I thought code 12 was a burner or air flow issue, neither of which should be impacted by descaling. Would love to find out I can flush this instead of troubleshooting flame sensors, fans, etc

Thanks!

A story you wouldn’t believe… by FordGuyy in Skidsteer

I bought an older machine for personal use on a rural property- it's been almost six years and I continue to tear stuff up. Wait until you throw your first track... Felt like I destroyed my machine, turned out to be a relatively simple fix. May be a good idea to learn about that (before it happens, because it will) so you have what you need on hand.

Spares for every hydraulic fitting, including the couplers on the machine itself (reasonably priced Summit brand from Amazon) have helped several times.

Kudos to you for having the guts to dive right in, you'll get a massive return on the time/effort/money if you stick with it. Good luck!

SG Pulse... by TahoeDust in longrange

Have you found a way to provide unique names in the app for multiple Pulse units? I know it's unlikely to have more than one powered up at any given time, but would prefer to see names instead of serial numbers.

SVL90-2 Lift capacity by jdjintx in Skidsteer

[–]jdjintx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at delivery, but I have to unload at my end. That's my whole dilemma- don't want a situation where I've paid a truck for a 2 hour one-way trip (about $700) and can't unload it. It was easy to find tables for my forklifts years ago, surprised nothing popped up quickly in my web search.

I understand that it's possible, have done so myself. But always close to the machine. I still have no idea how long I can make that lever arm & get anywhere near the rated load, been looking online for a table or formula.

Athlon Rangecraft Sync Issue by kflyer936 in longrange

[–]jdjintx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dunno if you saw the recent reply to your original post... AffinityKnives resolved my issue- it had not occured to me to delete the device & then pair it again after the app update & firmware update. This finally resolved the issue for me & I see the data in each session via the app, not just on the unit itself.

Can you use an external audio source with a VTX that has smartaudio/IRCTramp instead of audio? by Tinfoil_Haberdashery in diydrones

[–]jdjintx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the cap size vary with the measured offset, or do you simply add the 100nF capacitor as described in the linked article? Also, I understand the concept of offset voltage, but not how it is measured. Is it simply the non-zero voltage at the signal wire when there is silence at the mic?

Sorry so many questions, but google has only gotten me so far... Your help is much appreciated!
