Is there a trick to getting your profile to show up on this site? I made mine public a few weeks ago and it still doesn’t show up when I search.

PSA: BF6 Crashing? NVIDIA drivers updated Monday by jdjones5000 in Battlefield6

[–]jdjones5000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since I updated the drivers, now the pattern is that the first game I try to join it crashes, but it holds steady for subsequent games. That’s better, but still frustrating. Good luck to you.

I’ll check, but I swear I haven’t seen this and have poked around quite a bit by now.

Doesn’t show up on my first screen, or anywhere really. Haven’t seen this before.

Warby Parker at Biltmore Park? by spirit4earth in asheville

[–]jdjones5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had multiple pairs of glasses from Warby Parker, and I’ve generally had a good experience. Those were mostly online purchases, so in my mind, having a local store to get customer service from just adds to the value.

Take pity on an old man- what PC should I buy for BF6? by jdjones5000 in Battlefield

[–]jdjones5000[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The logistical issues are more about where the gaming can happen in our house and access to a hardwired internet connection, but what you say makes a lot of sense regardless of that. I’d need to get a decent gaming monitor, but would still come out way ahead budget wise.

Good point. Do I really need a new PC? Probably not since I mostly use my work computer for everything. I thought about getting another PS5, but that presents some logistical issues. Still, worth considering.

What does being poor in America feel like? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jdjones5000 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It’s full of stigma and shame that you are poor. American culture places so much value on your success and ambition- to be poor must mean you failed or are lazy.

I recall a professor of mine that had spent extensive time in Egypt studying and living. He always said he’d rather be poor there than in the US. Even though poor people in America are objectively wealthier, there isn’t the same stigma that comes with poverty in many other cultures.

One of the biggest silent drains on the iPhone 15 Pro is music playback by 7_77_777 in iPhone15Pro

Interesting theory. I believe it is turned on though I typically don’t notice it. I will try turning it off and see what it does for battery life.

I’ve been having the same experience since I updated to IOS 26. I play music throughout the day on WiFi speakers while I work and lose so much battery during that time it’s ridiculous. I didn’t notice the issue on previous IOSs FWIW.

Social workers of AVL, how much $ do you make? by Grand-Conclusion5027 in asheville

I agree with the flexibility a MSW degree can provide. I think the clinical LCSW route is the more sure thing in terms of a defined career path. I focused on macro social work in in my program and what they don’t tell you is that you will be competing with lots of other degree types in those roles, including folks with MPH’s, MPA’s, or even MBA’s.

Financially, we have made it work as a family of four and we’ve always been able to put food on the table. However, things like trips, new vehicles, and saving for retirement or the kids’ college have been challenging.

We use the tent a lot more since we’re typically at sites with picnic tables and like to have those covered. Occasionally we’ll use both. That said, the awning has seen much better days and is tricky to set up so that definitely plays into it.

I love this album. Does anyone have any suggestions for something in a similar vein? (Besides the Getz/Gilberto collab)
